Why? Why not run it your way? No two leagues run the same way. English leagues are all about money and poor ownership which leads to teams going under. Hell, even Man City are in trouble over their financial activity. Germany have a rule where fans MUST own 51% of the club. Italy is a hive of corruption with Juventus in trouble..... AGAIN. Spain has it's fair share of controversy. All the big European leagues have become reliant on Champions League qualification.
Run the CPL your way. Keep the u21 minute rule, limit the number of international players and encourage the clubs to develop players. Do it that way and Canada can make their mark on world football.

Ok, a little more research would indicate that he won a high school championship with Northlands Parkway back in 2014-15 which would give a rough idea of age. There is very little info around other than he also plays futsal for a team called Shooting Stars.

Ok, there may be a typo in the initial article. I can find nothing on "Alvin Rode", but I can find out (minimal) information on an "Alwin Rode" who has played in goal for Winkler Storm in the MMSL.

Maybe he would fancy the Valour job after they fail to qualify for the playoffs again (and probably finish bottom).

    Can I get an Amen?!?
Seriously though, you would have assumed that Barker would have been given a shot given he was the only FC Manitoba player to make team of the year in their division, and I find it hard to believe that, if he hasn't been signed already, di Stefani wouldn't have put in a good word for Artemenko.
    Although.........
Connect the dots. Tisseur was born in Quebec, we know from the draft picks alone that PDS likes his Quebecers. Tisseur also has ties to Ottawa Fury where PDS began his coaching career.
Now, Novak. The FORWARD Anthony Novak. The same forward who has scored more CPL goals in the last 4 years than most of our front line combined in ALL competitions. If he was ever an option, WHY THE F**K did we sign Siaj and Niyongabire????? We could have signed 2 defenders instead. Hell, both are internationals, I'd have taken a punt on Schaale (who isn't far off being eligible for Canadian citizenship) or Eriks Santos.
I know Valour Fury has a track record for being reliable, but I hope in this instance, he isn't. Not so much as far as Novak is concerned, that is more frustration on my part than anything. But I would prefer someone like Artemenko or Barker to push Rayane for the #1 spot.
    Anyway, rant over.

Going by this logic, it would be something like Levis - Haynes, Romeo - Samake and Mekideche - Pianelli. Honestly? I totally agree with you there. And the fact that something like 28 of our goals last season came from players who are no longer at the club is going to be a BIG concern.
As far as the international players go, Rendon, Ponce and Baptiste are already there. That would mean any visa issues would involve Niyongabire, Williams or Siaj.  If we have another Rendon issue, we will be even more stuffed than we already are. Couldn't we have signed at least 1 Canadian striker as cover? I mean, nothing against them, but I can't see de Brienne or Ulloa doing a job up top if anything happened to Ponce and the other 3 had visa issues.

Damian Rocke is no longer on the technical staff section on the CPL website. It also appears that Fordy has similar job titles to the ones previously held by Rocke.

Other than "draft rights retained", there has been no mention of Carlos. One would assume that he has gone back to university.
As Campbell originally played as a right mid, I would assume he would be used more as competition for right back as opposed to CB.
Looking at the current state of the squad, I would be surprised if any trialists are attacking players. Not counting draft picks, a second keeper would put us at 20 players leaving 3 slots. Assuming Pianelli gets one, the other 2 would likely be defensive players too. Who knows? Hidalgo-Mazzei can play as a LB or as a CB. That seems unlikely though.

That isn't hard. Even Vancouver's looks better than Valour's!!! 😞
In all fairness though, HFX are looking strong this year.

I remember someone saying that a team from Quebec should use a similar colour scheme to the one that the Quebec Nordiques used. I liked that idea.

Is "midfielder" PDS speak for "defender" or "goalkeeper"?
Seriously though, I am becoming more and more convinced that PDS will be playing a back 3 this year. I mean, Samake and AJB will start alongside either Balisoni or Baquero as that is all that is available. There are a number of options at wing back (Rendon, Gutierrez, Haynes, de Brienne or Mzoughi) and with the added midfielders, it seems the logical option.
We also know what Fordy is upto these days (assistant coach).

On the subject of wages, does anyone else wonder why Valour appear to have a small number of non-playing staff? I mean, HFX announced their backroom staff for the year a few days ago, yet Valour is always quiet on that front. The CPL website only lists 4 staff members (PDS, Rocke, Bhindi and di Stefani).
The reason I ask is the salary cap (of 1.2m I believe) is to cover both playing and non-playing staff. Now, if Valour only had 4 staff members, that would logically imply that there was more salary available for playing staff. This is obviously not the case. And, should a staff member (let's say a physio) be employed by the Bombers but also works with Valour, as his employer is, technically, the same, would his salary be counted?

Saw this posted in the General thread. Looks interesting and the original post mentioned that it is more than likely in CAD despite the £. It would appear that a LOT of our cap was spent on loan signings.

The funny thing with loans are that both clubs need to agree on wages. Valour could pay a percentage between all or nothing (usually in a multiple of 10). I very much doubt Valour would have paid 100% given the amount AJB was on. 50% seems more than likely.
As far as the salary cap goes, I believe what Valour pay counts towards the cap.

Technically, it would have been the same. Despite not being born in Winnipeg, both Ohin and Pena consider themselves as Winnipeggers. But I know that isn't the same as someone who was "born down the road" so to speak.
It's also even more annoying when you realise that Bustos played for Valour and Mukumbilwa was at the training camp one year. Wasn't Dylan Carriero a Winnipegger too?
At least it isn't just soccer. The Jets don't have any Winnipeggers on their books this season and the Bombers only have 4 that I am aware of.

Same defensive unit for each game, but a totally different attacking unit each time 🤣.
Honestly, I am not even optimistic about beating TSS Rovers at the moment. I just can't understand the squad. It still needs a LOT of work and I think there have been too many "wrong" signings already made.

Shame they can't both be at Valour. That would be something to get the fans onside. I genuinely believe that teams should try to have at least one "local lad" in the squad as it really gives the fans someone to get behind.
