You just know Tahid will come on late in the game. I mean, he is already the youngest ever CPL player signed to a standard deal, Vancouver will put him in the record books again as the youngest player to play in the CPL in their first ever home game too.

So, as of yesterday, former Valour forward Shaan Hundal has scored 1 less goal than the entire Valour side so far this season.
On the flip side, former Valour defender Rocco Romeo has more red cards than the entire Valour team so far this season.

I hate when they do the lineup like that. It is misleading. I look at that and see it as a back 4 consisting of Samake, Campbell, Williams and Guti.

Ok, totally unrelated to the upcoming match or current injuries but, given that ChatGPT is all over YouTube at the moment, I thought it would be funny to ask ChatGPT to suggest a good starting XI for the current Valour side. This is the response:
    Goalkeeper:
    James Pantemis
    Defenders:
    Arnold Bouka Moutou (RB)
    Andrew Jean-Baptiste (CB)
    Rocco Romeo (CB)
    Jonathan Sirois (LB)
    Midfielders:
    Daryl Fordyce (CM)
    Brett Levis (CM)
    Moses Dyer (CAM)
    Forwards:
    Austin Ricci (RW)
    William Akio (CF)
    Jared Ulloa (LW)

This formation allows for attacking flexibility on the wings with Austin Ricci and Jared Ulloa, while William Akio leads the line as the central forward. Moses Dyer can provide creativity and goal-scoring opportunities from the midfield, while the defensive trio of Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Rocco Romeo, and Jonathan Sirois should help to solidify the backline.

Didn't Kelowna seem to think they would be ready by 2024? I know that was Clanachan's original target for Windsor, but that isn't going to happen now. Saskatoon are gonna fall short of 2024 as well.

This is all I can find on the CPL website:
    Season-Ending Injury
Upon receipt of a formal letter from a Club’s medical staff outlining details surrounding a severe player injury that will prohibit such player from participating for the remainder of the CPL League Season, the League Office may classify the player as having a Season-Ending Injury. Should the League Office approve a Season-Ending Injury, the player will be placed on the Club’s Inactive List.
The full process for placing a player on Season-Ending Injury is as follows:
The CPL Club alerts the League Office that it believes that a player has sustained a Season-Ending Injury. The League Office forwards Season-Ending Injury statutory declarations to the CPL Club (the League Office may also provide estimated salary cap relief calculation as requested). The CPL Club formally requests that the player be deemed to have a Season-Ending Injury and placed on the Club’s Inactive List for the remainder of the League Season, providing statutory declarations and medical diagnosis in support of request. The League Office approves or denies the request. With League approval, and if eligible, calculation of salary cap relief will be formally provided (note: salary cap relief currently limited to one player per team). The Club can then replace player in accordance with roster and salary cap rules. So long as a Club abides by all CPL roster and salary cap rules, a Season-Ending Replacement Player may be signed.
Upon League Office determination that a player has a Season-Ending Injury, a Club may be provided with roster and salary cap relief under the following parameters:
The dollar value of any salary cap relief cannot exceed the remaining 2023 salary payable to the injured player (i.e., cap relief is calculated on a pro-rata basis). For example, where the League Office approves a Season-Ending Injury and such player was earning a salary of $30,000 for the period of January 1st, 2023 to December 31st, 2023 ($2,500 per month), a Club would receive the following salary cap relief to sign a Season-Ending Injury Replacement Player for the balance of the 2023 League Season: Season-Ending Injury date of April 1st, 2023: $22,500 (9 months remaining on 2023 contract / 9 * $2,500) Season-Ending Injury date of August 1st, 2023: $12,500 (5 months remaining on 2023 contract / 9 * $2,500) Salary cap relief will also be provided for other on-cap categories (e.g., housing), with any expense limited to the amount that the injured player was eligible to receive. A Club is limited to salary cap relief for one (1) Season-Ending Injury per League Season. A player moved to a Club’s Inactive List with a Season-Ending Injury cannot return to play through the remainder of the current League Season, even if that player recovers sooner than expected.

Makes you wonder why PDS hasn't filled the final slot yet. Is it by choice or because the funds aren't there? Surely a 5th CB wouldn't be a bad thing, especially with 2 out injured.

Levis was our left back last year and, given his reputation for being injury prone, actually did really well. To be fair, the other option was "Jonny 1-minute". Wonder where he is now?
As far as Mukumbilwa goes, he is a right back, but is one of those players who can play pretty much anywhere down either flank. He is just as likely to be seen playing left wing as he is right back. Also has pace to burn.

Windsor is pretty much a done deal and so would Saskatoon be if they could sort their shit out. Kelowna seem to think they would be good to go by 2024/25. Personally, I would like a team in Quebec ahead of one in Kitchener-Waterloo, simply because Ontario already has a number of teams and Quebec is, as of yet, unrepresented.

I know we have only played 1 match, but already, there appears to be a decent core of young(ish) players that we should look to keep past this season and possibly even build around. I mean, there is only around 10 players upwards of 25.
If we could try to keep Guti, Niyongabire, Chandler, Rayane and Williams for starters, that gives a decent base. Pianelli gave a good account of himself and, realistically, him and Chandler could be a first choice pairing for a few seasons (that means they will be gone after this season). Campbell is still around mid 20's and could develop well, a midfield pairing of him and Guti could work well.

He needs to refamiliarize himself with the role. He actually started out as a fullback/wing back before getting moved further up the pitch. Option 'C' is Mzoughi at left back.

It will be an interesting game, that's for sure. Having Pianelli partner Samake and flanked by de Brienne and Baquero, how they will handle Babouli and De Rosario will be fun to watch. With Ohin playing, I would expect to see de Brienne getting forward regularly and (hopefully) putting in crosses to the attacking players.
It looks like a 4-3-3 with that lineup. Interesting to see Novak start.
