At the moment, no. The only confirmed returnees are Ohin and AJB, although an article on the CPL website also lists de Brienne, Baquero, Ponce, Gutierrez, Rayane, Rendon and Catavolo.
Cebara is listed as "out of contract, either moving on to other opportunities or the club is still in discussion for a possible return in '23"

I really hope they are gonna post more. I mean, we knew about Rafa and AJB returning and Haynes got announced the day before. I want to know what the Commish said and what questions were asked.

I know he would take an international slot, but I would take a punt on Santos. He is reliable at the back and could work well with AJB. I believe he can also play as a full back too. JGL would be a good addition to the midfield.

So, apparently, Ohin has a "multi year" deal.

Just been looking at the released players from HFX. What are the opinions on Eriks Santos, Marshall, Bent and Baskett?

I would like to see both Romeo and Mekideche return. I think Meki would come good in a full season and Romeo would be a good one to build into another AJB-style imposing CB.
A new striker would be an obvious choice for the announcement.
Am I right in thinking that Valour already have some sort of womens team?
Hope the weather doesn't have too much of a negative effect on the town hall though.

I'm going to call it and say that they are CPL players. Lets look at who has left, Levis, Rea, Ascanio, Forbes and Dyer from midfield and attack. As Yesli has re-signed, I wouldn't expect a keeper just yet. JGL could be a good shout.

To expand on this a little, Reveco (a Winnipegger) is considered a "set piece specialist" and can play in a variety of attacking roles, much like Dyer. He has also had time abroad (Italy, Spain and Mexico).
Garic (also a Winnipegger) is one of those defenders who can play at CB or Full Back, but can also fill in as a holding midfielder if needed.

Could be a good shout. Rumoured for a long time and home to the King George V Stadium if I remember correctly.

Theoretically, yes. He didn't originally intend on playing last season but I believe it was his Mrs who convinced him to have another crack at getting in the playoffs. He said then that the '22 season would probably be his last. But, who knows?

I wouldn't say "closely", but Evan Barker made team of the year for their particular division, Hidalgo-Mazzei was fairly consistent for both FC Manitoba and the University of Saskatchewan. Other options who played for both FC Manitoba and UofS that Put in good performances could be Kevin Garic (defence) and Diego Reveco (midfield).

Probably be a 1yr deal. The CPL website only says he "returns for his 5th season" and has PDS saying "We’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring in 2023"

Not all the CPL teams have academies. I believe, it is only Pacific, Cavalry, HFX and York. Which, if I'm being honest, annoys me. Although, when you look at how much Edmonton (reportedly) lost per year in running their academy, I can see why the rest wont run one.
Regarding the training of players at said academies though, I doubt they would be eligible for the draft due to them already being at a CPL team. It could however, be possible to have a separate draft, specifically for academy sides involving high school teams. Although, going down that particular rabbit hole would raise so many questions.

Interesting. Wonder if it is anyone who has recently left a CPL side?

I actually like this point of the season when we can speculate about potential signings. There is always more activity than in Europe (due to the shorter contracts) and it adds something different to the season, for me anyway.

I would be happy with either Artemenko or Barker challenging Yesli next season. I seem to think Barker was the only FC Manitoba player in Team of the Season for their division. Personally, I like the idea of having more players from Winnipeg (or Manitoba in general) at Valour anyway.

I ain't moaning about anything. Personally, I would be happy with any stadium as long as I got to watch my team play. Sure, the extra lines on multisport stadiums confuse me at times, but I can still live with that. And I think the image that was put together actually looks pretty decent in terms of stadiums.
Bottom line, you can't please everyone, but you can provide them with somewhere to go and watch a match.

Ok, this is just my opinion but, leaving an end open is actually sensible.
Hear me out. How many teams in the CPL with a complete stadium, actually fill it? I understand that there are teams that use a non soccer specific stadium (Valour) and they only get a certain amount of the capacity for home games (around 6k from 30k in Valour's case).
With an expansion side leaving ends open, it gives the fans a side on view of the pitch (which I personally would prefer to being behind a goal) and also leaves room for expansion should interest in the team/league grow, thus increasing the need for seats. The last thing any team, let alone an expansion team wants, is to have a half empty stadium for home games.
You have to ask, what would be the capacity of a full stadium? Could an expansion team expect to fill that week in, week out? They are looking at the best options in terms of layout for a smaller capacity.

Even with Atletico behind them, they had a rough debut season. Ottawa had the bonus of having a stadium ready for them though. I just really hope that, after all this, the Sask team does arrive in the CPL.
