cornerkick got a reaction from kingvikingstad in The Importance of Alphonso Davies
https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/davies-addresses-real-madrid-transfer-speculation_535270.html
"
Although Davies appears to be on Real Madrid's radar, the full-back has insisted that he is currently happy at Bayern.
"I feel very comfortable here," Davies told Kicker. "I play in an incredible team at one of the absolute top clubs in Europe. I stay focused and give everything for the team and our fans.""
"
The defender added: "In 2020, nobody really had me on their list, I was a relatively unknown quantity and I delivered. After that, the expectations of me were of course greater.
"I think that on the whole, I did justice to this, but of course not always, not in every game. There are very few players who really always manage to do that throughout their careers.
"My style of play has changed a little since then. A little less tricks, a little less dribbling, a little less risk.
"But I understand other things better today than I did four years ago. Of course, I have more experience today. But I'm still young and I want to continue learning and improving.""

cornerkick reacted to toontownman in Jayden Nelson
If this was a highlight reel for a newly found Canadian eligible player in Norway, I think we would be falling over ourselves excited and demanding he gets captied in March!
The highlight reels are always deceiving but man, there aren't too many CMNT eligible players that are showing those skills. Hope Jayden continues his form and gets noticed for a bigger move next year. He has been unlucky with Canada call timing. Still only 21. Lots of time on his side.

cornerkick reacted to Mihairokov in June 2024 friendly matches (plans, speculation, rumours etc.)
Some European countries that are free in June from not qualifying for EURO include Ireland, Norway, and Sweden, among others. Think a friendly against one of them would be valuable, in addition to just about any potential opponent in Copa America.

I'm a Liverpool fan as well, perhaps not as intensely as before but its my EPL team and has been since about 1980.
Still, I wonder if Klopp is also thinking that it is a way to intensify and focus these next 5 months. They have a league they can win, and are alive in Champions. The team is on form, and some of the key rivals seem accessible in both key competitions, plus there's the Carabao final in a month, we're alive in the FA Cup. It is a very good way to give the team the edge to try to win as much and as big as possible.

Ugh, having a hard time digesting this. Haven't really been able to work today. My wife came home at lunch and found me crying in the office. Pretty ridiculous but Klopp is as close to irreplaceable as you can get. I feel like I'm losing a family member.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are replacing the turf at IG Field in time for the 2024 season.
The new surface, made by FieldTurf Vertex, will be FIFA Quality Pro certified upon completion. It will also feature CoolPlay TPE infill, which is said to reduce heat build-up in warm weather.

I think they should find a new CanMNT manager first now before filling this position. That is way more important in the grand scheme of things

My feeling is with those who say it is on the players, and I tend to put a lot of emphasis on coaching.
I mean, just fucking ignore Biello if that is what it takes to win.

cornerkick got a reaction from costarg in General Discussion on CMNT
In Concacaf national team news, El Salvador is hosting Inter Miami today. National team vs Club team.
Not sure if this is the most appropriate thread for this, but it would have been something if Miami trekked out to BC place for a similar game.

cornerkick got a reaction from Shway in Gold Cup 2025
the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is also scheduled during this time period, June-July 2025. Who exactly will come from CAF to this gold cup then?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Africa_Cup_of_Nations
There's too much soccer now in summer 2025. Did the gold cup try to make an early announcement to preempt other competitions from stealing the spotlight?

cornerkick reacted to Unnamed Trialist in Gold Cup 2025
Are there dates for this Gold Cup, and why was this thread bumped?
Anyways, I think the logic is impeccable. But the plus is playing as a NT in the venues you may see the following summer. It is actually an advantage, you learn the terrain. Pre-Olympic events are often done that way and it does benefit athletes to know venues, scenarios. Now Canada has to play at Azteca, and we are not threatened or afraid, because we know it, have done it, even got results there.
Apart from it being a sort of courtesy within FIFA.
The problem is if Nations League interferes, of other international tournaments, if players are just too saturated with matches, then you may see some selective opting out, which is what you are suggesting. Not even the potential money would be that much of an incentive for many federations.

Well, that's one way for Canada to play opponents outside CONCACAF. Montagliani pulling out all the stops.

Gold Cup 2025 will have 24 participating teams and will be played in the 16 venues of the 2026 World Cup: 16 from Concacaf + 8 guests from other confederations.

Back to the CMNT....has there been ANY info re job postings or update as to what is going on? I have to think that the new GS would have at the very least instructed the CSA to conduct the search if they haven't already started one.
