One more good year in Norway and I think Nelson will be on the move to bigger and better things. Belgium, Netherlands, Championship all seem like good landing spots for the next phase of his career.

No new info in that update, but an update this quick into his tenure is a very good sign. Probably being too optimistic, but my between the lines reading of him mentioning Biello and him being aware that they’re still searching for coaches even though he’s a candidate gives me the impression that they’re probably gonna go with someone else.

I'd like to echo what a few others have said. How the fuck was this guy passed over in the original search when he's a far better candidate, on paper, than the other one?

Can he choose a new coach in 4 weeks?
No country in the world does what we are doing, dicking around for months. It's shameful. Every soccer federation in the world have candidates in line and thought of, they all have a short list and manage it in real time. In most European countries, in S America, anywhere pretty well, they choose a coach in 10 days to 3 weeks. Or have a caretaker while they wait for their man to come free of his contract. 
If the guy is starting from scratch and needs to do a CSA meditation course to get up to speed we're screwed.
We are slowly getting close to being "a soccer nation", in many ways, we have a Cup thanks to the Voyageurs, a league, we are in Concacaf competitions, we are starting to build a club pyramid, but we lag with the national programs, the kids, camps, scouting, coaching, the technical structure is crappy. We don't have decent youth coaches. Bev is good, thankfully, seems she can put a bad WC behind her and rebuild, credit to her. But the overall system of coaching is weak. Which is partially on Herdman who was hired to fix it, it was in his job description in fact.

Hello Canada Soccer Family:
My name is Kevin Blue, and I’m honoured to be serving you as Canada Soccer’s new CEO and General Secretary. Look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the weeks and months ahead.
As you all know, there are a number of opportunities for soccer in Canada on the horizon — both on the pitch and for the general trajectory of Canada in global football.  
There are also several challenges to be addressed that will require urgent and skillful work.
To that end, today I can make the following three commitments:
As a newcomer to the soccer community in Canada, I will work diligently to earn your trust. I will do this by listening to you and learning from you, by seeking out excellent people with world-class football technical expertise, and by communicating with you regularly in a straightforward and transparent fashion.
At Canada Soccer, we will look in the mirror and make the reforms necessary to get our house in order. Our federation will be governed and will operate with the exemplary professionalism required to address current challenges and leverage upcoming opportunities for soccer in our country.
We will work with determination to unite all stakeholders behind the common objective of making sure soccer in Canada is successful and growing — from grassroots up through the National Teams. This work includes collaborating across stakeholders to build a stronger commercial and philanthropic structure to support our sport nationally.
The work ahead is substantial and we will resolutely focus on making progress, one day at a time. Rebuilding trust in Canada Soccer and ensuring that the association is healthy — competitively, financially, and operationally — is critical if Canada is to take advantage of its upcoming opportunities domestically and on the world’s biggest stages.
And broadly, as a soccer community from coast-to-coast-to-coast, our success in the next few years is pivotal if we are to solidify the importance of our sport in the overall Canadian economic, cultural, and sporting landscape. Our Women’s National Team have long been trailblazers for gender equity in Canadian sport and will defend Olympic gold in a few months. And our Men’s National Team will compete at home in the world’s largest-ever sporting event when the men’s FIFA World Cup comes to Canada, USA, and Mexico in 2026. We have an opportunity and a tremendous responsibility to be both stewards of soccer and leaders in Canadian sport during such an important time.
There are 146 days until the Olympic Games and 833 days until the World Cup, and many other important milestones along the way. We have urgent work to do — and everyone who shares the passion of our game needs to come together as partners.

His hiring actually came out of the blue.

He is also speaking directly to the fans. I find that most impressive. He is also saying all the right things. Especially with unifying all stakeholders. 
Now only time will tell of things change!

Why do you even create these posts? It will just be a few months of frustration and annoyance and eventually get whittled down to noone is available and we aren't going to play.

Makes way too much sense to ever come true. As someone who could walk there and who loves the incomparable sport history within that same footprint, though, I would absolutely love to see it.

This will surely not come as a surprise to many, if any.

My thoughts on the 1st half:
- Lacasse the MVP
- Carle hasn't looked good and made mistakes that would have been punished against better teams
- Canada doing the same short corner routine twice seemed kinda disrespectful but both times it almost worked 😆
 

Impossible to get a result at Anfield in this round or even this competition,this year, I would say😉.  
 
But really glad they have something to take to the Emirates.
