I'm just watching the replay of the match now, I was at the far end from where some of these events happened but I have seen him kicked and head betted in about 18 minutes, either or both could be considered Red Card offences and he has the only card, I must say deservedly for his reaction to being again cut down from behind and head butted while down! I think he played about as well as he possibly could have providing a great assist and numerous other chances as well as being a constant threat on the wing and burrying a goal of his own, if he has to Concacaf a bit, so be it long may it continue!

Quick summary: We scored in each of our three matches, four goals from open play, one from the spot.  We allowed only two goals, and only a smattering of solid chances.  Of the two goals allowed, both were caused by mistakes we can easily clean up. While there were moments here and there where we could have been sharper, save for the terrible spell against Honduras in the first half, we played very solid football over the three matches. We were tactically aware, always hardworking, and sufficiently creative.
Can we build on this?  I think so. I really do. Next window looks to be tougher, if only because of the travel--I wish we played Jamaica first, not Mexico--but we will learn a lot about this group, and they'll learn a lot about themselves.

Just some next morning thoughts. Although having the crowd be 50/50 was tough, I will say in a way I almost preferred having it be 100% engaged fans as opposed to that other 50% being casuals with no passion for the game. That El Salvador anthem was very cool to see and I think made the rest of us sing louder for the Canadian anthem. I do think a lot of these same fans will turn up in red next time because they are football fans first (ie the guy in front of me with the El Salvador jersey and the tattoo sleeve with a giant maple leaf in the middle).
That being said, I do think there's a role that the V's and other fans need to play to try and be more engaging and less niche to try and attract the average Canadian to the games. I'm not sure what that would look like, but sometimes it feels like people on here can be gatekeepers rather than welcoming to the bandwagoners, which are the people we need to pack our stadiums.

Edit: one additional point I noticed attending both home matches: these boys ride for one another. Any hard foul, not only do the players on the field back their boy, but the bench is immediately on the sideline. May be a small detail, but I absolutely love to see it. Surprisingly, for his minimal contribution, Wotherspoon seems to be one of the first to the sideline every time.

That may be a good sign, the Maple Leafs home opener also happens to fall on the 13th so if they're full capacity BMO should be also

a more worrying sign is having to compete with a Maple Leafs home opener and *possibly* a Jays playoff run on the same date for attendance

I'm not sure if it was mentioned in this thread but Borjan is an absolute fan favourite, he went crazy  fist pumping and yelling towards the supporters section on both first half goals, his slide marks in the box stood out throughout the match, hero!

So as another immigrant to the country when I was a child (moved to Toronto right before turning 10), I had a very different experience in terms of my MNT loyalties. I loved soccer before moving to Canada, but I immediately latched on CanNT as my team, even begging my dad to take me to watch Canada play Iran in a friendly at the old Varsity Stadium in Toronto back in 1997 (I found out later that was Jason de Vos's first international appearance) as my birthday AND Christmas present for that year (it was also when I realized Canada didn't get the home support that I imagined). I think it probably helped that the country of my birth didn't have a super long history of soccer culture (though they did make it to a world cup more recently than Canada did).
On the other hand, I think the beauty of Canada has been that you are never forced to pick and choose your cultural heritage, you can be Canadian and Jamaican, or Canadian and Salvadoran at the same time. I didn't realize how important that was to me until I traveled and lived in other countries in my 20s when people wouldn't believe that I'm Canadian because I didn't look like their pre-conceived notion of what a Canadian could look like (AKA white).
I would like to think that acceptance has also made it easier for some players like Laryea or Osorio or even David to rep Canada when they have other heritage. Because Canada never forced them to choose, they are more likely to choose Canada.

Any idea of when this may be?
Doubt you have any say, but is there any chance of getting a few days of presale so we can try and pack the place with people we've converted into fans this past week

I think our biggest losses were Hargreaves, Jonathan De Guzman, and Begovic.
For 2006, we finished dead last in our group of death, but could have sent out: Begovic, Brennan, De Vos, McKenna, Stalteri, Hargreaves, Julian, Hutch, Jonathan, Radzinski. Dero coming off the bench...
I feel like those guys could have finished above Guatemala.
This does bring up an important point: We've produced great players for years. Great players raised in Canada (not Cristante). We never had leadership at the CSA/Manager level to bring everything together.
I know you guys probably think I'm super woke, so I don't want to disappoint, but honestly... When Herdman was hired, Oz fired, I was like WTF? The women's coach? Whoever had the guts to make that call also deserves some major credit. The CSA is night and fucking day from what we were used to with Kevan Pipe.

Don't know if this counts but in 2011 right before Honduras when we were all waiting on JDG2 to commit before the Honduras game, we were also waiting on Vitoria too.
Think I have that time line correct.

Maybe we should stop calling for matches in New Brunswick and the Yukon... I support having Nov in Edmonton and Jan in Van, but hopefully this enough proof for the "BMO = Bad" community

We will have a longer pre sale window this time likely.
We opened it up because sales dropped to zero.   It was not a good process/set up and wiped out sales at both ends for people buying singles and people organizing groups. You couldn't do either.  If the stadium is wide open, that will make a huge difference.
If there is a delay in opening up those sales, it will be directly related to stadium set up due to covid.

I think the pre sale for this game on the Voyageurs site is going to matter a lot more than the first two games.
While I don't think it was officially announced, it was on the display last night.
Double vaccination proof will be required for this game as per MLSE rules at all of the venues they manage.  I suspect, barring any serious changes in covid by that time the stadium will be fully open under these rules.
