Approve My Account Pls reacted to InglewoodJack in Niko Sigur
He did that northern futbol episode before he had committed where he was pretty openly interested in Canada. That’s one where we were too little too late, but I do wonder if he was going through that decision now, with how things are trending for our program, if he would’ve picked us instead. I feel like Marsch would’ve moved quicker, but I think we’re in a better place to attract duals now than in 2022.

The good news is that Croatian fans seem to be relatively upset about this. Not that they see it as a catastrophic loss, but most are talking about him as a talent that at least could provide good depth to the squad.

The 20-year-old right-back Hajduk, Niko Kristian Sigur, has decided to change his football citizenship and represent Canada in the future.
Based on dual citizenship, Sigur had the opportunity to play for Croatia or Canada and last year chose to represent Croatia, for which he played in the youth team jersey with which he was at the European Championships in Romania.
However, Sigur decided to perform in the future for the national team of Canada, the country where he was born and spent his entire childhood.
"It was an honor to represent Croatia, which is a football superpower and what is my family's homeland, but with the time I felt that I wanted to represent the country where I grew up and started my football career, Canada. I appreciate the open communication and understanding of this decision by the HNS and I thank the coaches and teammates in the national team for the pleasant time I spent as a young Croatian national team player. I will always be a big fan of Croatia to whom I wish the best of luck and success," said Niko Kristian Sigur.
Technical director Stipe Pletikosa and Croatian A national team coach Zlatko Dalić discussed this decision with Sigur.
"We are sorry for this outcome because we believe in Nika's potential and we have seen him as a player who is a candidate for the A national team. Of course, we understand that a young person can come to such a change in thinking and respect what he has admitted on time to both himself and us that he wants to represent Canada in which he grew up. Thank him for his contribution to the young national team and of course we wish him the best of luck and success in the continuation of his football career," said the technical director of the A and U-21 national team Stipe Pletikosa

Approve My Account Pls reacted to Obinna in Most Expensive Transfers 🇨🇦🤑
Agreed. You need to do an inflation adjustment, especially with the older transfers.
As per this euro currency inflation calculator: Adjusted for 2024
1) Jonathan David (La Gantoise to LOSC): €27M €32.5M
2) Alphonso Davies (Vancouver Whitecaps to Bayern Munich): €14M €17.2M
3) Ismael Koné (Warford to OM: €12M €12M
4) Ismael Koné (CF Montréal to Watford): €8M €8.6M
5) Cyle Larin (Real Valladolid to RCD Mallorca): €7.5M €7.6M
6) Moise Bombito (Colorado Rapids to OGC Nice): €7M €7M
7) Tajon Buchanan (Club Bruges to Inter Milan): €7M €7M
😎Tomasz Radzinski (RSC Anderlecht to Everton): €6.75M €11.0M
9) Tajon Buchanan (New England Revolution to Club Bruges): €6.43M €7.5M - Brugge actually lost €0.5M on Tajon.
10) Lucas Cavallini (Puebla to Vancouver Whitecaps): €4.55M €5.5M
..........................................................
And now to order the transfers from biggest to smallest in real terms:
1) Jonathan David (La Gantoise to LOSC)
2) Alphonso Davies (Vancouver Whitecaps to Bayern Munich)
3) Ismael Koné (Warford to OM)
4) Tomasz Radzinski (RSC Anderlecht to Everton)
5) Ismael Koné (CF Montréal to Watford)
6) Cyle Larin (Real Valladolid to RCD Mallorca)
7) Tajon Buchanan (New England Revolution to Club Bruges)
8a) Moise Bombito (Colorado Rapids to OGC Nice)
8b) Tajon Buchanan (Club Bruges to Inter Milan)
9) Lucas Cavallini (Puebla to Vancouver Whitecaps)
10) Junior Hoilett (Blackburn to QPR): €3.75M €4.9M - this beats out the Cornelius-Marsielle transfer.
