Thing is, he really isn't arrogant, he's just extremely shy and introverted, which can easily be mistaken for arrogance.  He'll also come off seeming aloof when confronted by a coach for example, but its just a self-preservation thing.  Its really easy to misunderstand introverts.  It'll take someone with a strong human approach to bring out the best in him.

Too busy discussing which road Connor McDavid will take to the arena for practice.  Everything goes to Hockey here, its just about the hockey.  And they've all received too many concussions to realize how insane it is.
    Ya, i'm bitter.

The flip side to this is that there are no soft games in the hex route.  Start off slow against the wrong team and you are in deep trouble.  The low route at least gives you an easy round robin to warm up and then you build to harder tests as you go.  You would still potentially end up playing some good opposition - the SF, Final, 4th place game and intercontinental playoff would all all solid opponents for us - you just have a margin of error at the start.

If the team and league get a reputation as being a showcase for talent and a track record for moving guys on to bigger leagues it can only help bring in the next wave of kids.  This first year with (rumored) mostly only one year contracts, getting transfer fees isnt too likely.  If you can goto kids stagnating at the MLS academies and show them a pathway, they'll come, and eventually with multiyear contracts and trnasfer fees.  Better for them to star in CPL than be buried in USL-1 or a traveling developmental squad.

I'm gonna keep saying it...... Canada's best formation at the moment would be 3-5-2 with Davies and Laryea as wingbacks.
They're both at their best bombing up and down the flanks, they can both be trusted defensively and offensively, yet would be a waste to nail them in a defensive role.
    ------------------Cavallini - David
Davies - Kaye - Eustaquio or Hutch - Arfield - Laryea
    --------------Miller - Vitoria - Cornelius
Or a slightly more offensive option:
    Hoilett - Cavallini - David
    Davies - Kaye - Arfield - Laryea
    Miller - Vitoria - Cornelius

Did we not see Canada lose to Haiti just a little while ago?  Did we not also get owned by the USA even a shorter while ago?
We have potential, but we're not there yet.  We don't even know what our best formation is at the moment.  Playing more games, even vs minnows will benefit us in the long run.  I'll take the lower tier tournament.

I generally agree that the consultation route isn’t as bad for the reasons people say including we have a young maturing team that may grow into itself over the next two years whereby I anticipate fancying ourselves even more against a Costa Rica, Honduras or Jamaica in two years time than in one.
That being said, the Hex may give us a 15-25% chance of qualifying directly and something similar for being the 4th place side; whereas all we have to play for is the equivalent of the 4th place position if we have the consolation route. I suspect if you did an algorithmic analysis of the possibilities of us reaching the World Cup it would be significantly better if we were in the Hex.

The one thing that always worries me about a two game playoff is that a bad bounce here or a cheap red card there combined with some bad luck could easily see you out against an inferior opponent.  I remember Guatemala in 1990 qualifying. And we would need to go through 5 rounds of that!

Because there are more Canadian fans here then Whitecaps fans
I guess what we should be doing is getting Davies or Scott Arfield to take a picture with Drake or whatever the hell is considered cool out there. Then people in Toronto will know it's ok to cheer for Canada

Judging by this article, Mowbray doesn't rate him and doesn't see him as a potential starter (or being able to step into the role) and actually wanted to bring in another keeper during the summer as a #1 instead of Walton!

With the form of Evan Bush declining somewhat in the last year, maybe the Impact should try getting him at the end of the January transfer window. His contract with Blackburn ends in June.
The man really needs regular playing time again.

Is it just me that prefers the CANMNT regulars stay away from MLS and the turf fields?  Especially Stephen, given his brutal knee injury.
Perhaps its due to my own history with turf and a blown out knee, but i doubt anyone with a previous injury feels good playing on turf.

Holy hell. Scotty Arfield is the first name we should write down every time a squad is named. Settle down.
