Just a few thoughts on this tournament from having attended four of the games:
    1. Great to play teams that all have an increased intensity than what we are used to.  The skill level is also something watching it live…especially Argentina who have amazing movement and ball accuracy.
    2. I’ve mentioned it before but the fan experience was good to poor at times.  Ticket prices, organization of sections, security, and in KC, the heat made this  horrible for the supporters.  The Peruvian and Venezuelan supporters for the most part were vocal but great to deal with and friendly.  They were also mostly American based.
    3. the less I say about CONMEBOL as an organization, the better.  I have a better appreciation for CONCACAF now (that statement is very damning).

Finally, there are a lot more passionate football/soccer supporters in this country than even we think (and most of them with mixed heritage spending lots of money and time to travel all over the States to support Canada).  That encouraged me a lot especially with the team and Canada Soccer now pointing in the right direction.  We need to keep this momentum going.

Good enough for my U10’s back in the day, good enough for the MNT! 😎

    Thanks for sharing the news.
For those looking for what he said to throw into your preferred translation app:
"Ahora tenemos ... en (un) principio cuatro partidos amistosos, dos en septiembre y dos en octubre.
Los de octubre estan cerrados [locked in], contra Estados Unidos y Canadá...."
He mentions the Canada friendly is confirmed in the same way he mentions the USA one that US Soccer has already announced. So (unless the players go on strike again), this is 100% going to happen and probably already signed.

If this is a home game, my guess is that Montreal hosts on Tuesday, October 15th.
Then CONCACAF Nations League returns to Toronto on Monday, November 18th or Tuesday, November 19th
Montreal and Toronto are the only Canadian cities served by Copa Airlines, and both have a direct Air Canada flight from Austin on Sunday, October 13th.
Panama is a good opponent to play in Montreal because the opposing team's diaspora always shows up in big numbers there, compared to Canadian support, but Panama doesn't have a big diaspora.
It will have been 7 years and 4 months since the #CanMNT last played in Montreal; they will have played in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Hamilton since then. The media narrative writes itself, last time only 6000 people showed up for Alphonso Davies first #CanMNT match, so show up this time if you don't want to wait another 7½ years or more for another match!
Previous and next event at various stadiums:
    • Commonwealth in Edmonton, Elks games October 5th and October 25th
    • IG Field in Winnipeg, Blue Bombers October 11th , Valour October 19th
    • Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Forge October 12th, TigerCats October 18th
    • TD Place in Ottawa, Atlético September 29th, Atlético October 19th
    • BC Place in Vancouver, Whitecaps October 5th, BC Lions October 19th
    • BMO Field in Toronto, TFC on October 5th, Argos on October 19th
    • Stade Saputo in Montreal, CF Montréal September 28th, CF Montréal October 19th

It’s a double edged sword. I get what you’re saying, but there will be a handful of guys in 2 years who could/should be in the top 15 to 16 rotation who aren’t right now and they need some experience in these games too. Marsch has said this is gearing up for ‘26. If this was Herdman I know what the strategy would be. Looking forward to this line up drop more than any in this tournament because I think we all know for the most part who would be playing in the previous games

There will always be a dead cat bounce after events like this.  Growth will not occur overnight because of Qatar or COPA, more like a gradual build up.  The game at all levels becomes more of an option, engrained into the mentality of the average fan.

The story has already been spun... the video clip of Nunez holding his daughter - fighting to protect his family.  The useless American police not protecting the children and family members.

To me, it makes no sense that Columbian fans, after winning, would go and attack the Uruguayans.

We were just making fun of baseball yesterday on the Euro thread because I find it quite boring.

He made a comment either out of genuine preference or to spark a conversation on social media.  Rusted responded - fair play.
But people can have genuine opinions about things that are different from ours.

If the third place game was Argentina v Colombia, I would guess they fill the stadium at a price point four times that.  The first level tickets our semi final was over $1,100 (face value).  Not saying it’s right but they filled the 80,000 seats.

    Seriously...
I have loved being a part of this tournament, but certain elements have underscored the farcical elements.  I know it is just one incident, but one of the most blatant example of bias for me was the failure to caution the keeper who literally ran to the sidelines and tried to wrestle the ball away from our player to prevent a quick throw in.  You couldn't get a more cut-and-dried decision  - that is a slam-dunk yellow care 100% of the time.  And yet it was completely ignored (to the benefit of the South American team).  The chart showing fouls vs cautions is further objective proof of the officiating silliness that has taken place throughout the tournament.  Etc.
But a failure by CONMEBOL to caution players who literally went into the stands and attacked opposing fans would elevate the bias and stupidity to the next level.  It is unthinkable in any normal circumstances that they would not face significant punishment.  There is undeniable footage of the event, and precedents exist for the appropriate response.  If CONMEBOL only issues a statement chastising the offenders and does nothing else, it firmly cements the reality that this tournament is part sport, part scripted theatre.

I can probably count the number of times a Canadian striker got the ball in that area going forward 1-on-1 against a defender on one hand. For the whole tournament.

We aren't at an Argentina level in football.  Never will be.  Flip side to that is they will never have the mentality of a Canadian, bunch of soft ass flopping punks them Argies.
    Just our identity.

If he does that 15 minutes into the game, that’s one thing, but he knew exactly what he was doing. No real consequence for Kone, and he makes De Paul look like a baby. I think it takes a certain mindset to be sneaky like that at the right moment.

That was my view as well.  There is nothing amateur about it whatsoever.  There are no consequences to Kone for doing it, and it exposed the opposition as a pathetic drama-queen cheat.  Perfect response IMO.

Kone’s reaction was good. The game was over, he knew he was getting a card. To me that shows a player who can hang with the top guys, not someone getting baited into a reaction.

Let's play Austria. And Australia, too. Along with Mexico and the US. All solid games, and a chance to hone our offensive capabilities. Try some new combos. Tanni with David. Maybe Bair. See how Ahmed holds up as a starter.

Like I said earlier keep your top guys on the bench. Keeping those top guys off the pitch will actually be a positive when it comes to those players club teams. Don’t risk injury or further burnout.
