Earlier today I was chuckling to myself watching a guy clamber up onto his car with a ratchet set to remove the Portugal flag from the roof (not sure why it needed to be so secure). I should go by tomorrow and see if he wants a Canada car flag. 

In just over a month, this group of players will have played Netherlands, France, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina again, and then an opponent like Colombia or Brazil. That's more than a World Cup finalist's run worth of games, and against mostly World Cup calibre opposition.

We called him. He turned us down. He showed interest in us to get Serbia to commit. For all these bad girlfriend tropes, which are terrible takes, let's play along anyway - he's a playa.

Me prediction for tonight:
My mom’s birthday dinner drags on well past kick-off.  About 45 minutes before the game starts I begin checking my phone at regular intervals and fidgeting in my seat.  I have long since finished my meal by the time the game starts and when I decline a second drink at the restaurant, it raises suspicions about my level of interest and leads to an uncomfortable discussion about the sacrifices that were made during my childhood.   Dessert consists of a full blown guilt trip about my lack of gratitude while my mother finishes her third glass of wine and starts crying.  The remaining weekend birthday activities are cancelled with the entire family making me feel like a complete piece of shit.  
I then go home and see Canada win 2-1 baby!   Woo Hoo!   

Some have probably already come accross this one but I feel this is some pretty powerful evidence against the idea that the refs are bad equally for both sides:

I would love to see the rugby officiating mantra be adopted by soccer. No disrespect, mic connecting them with the booth that allows us to hear what is being communicated.  Would be a huge improvement over current bulkshit every time there is a call. 

Injuries happen…tough for Tajon but let’s hope the lads get it together and focus on Friday.

Also feel kind of bad for Piete. One of our most capped players of all time, gets minutes in friendlies, qualifiers,etc.. but has never gotten a minute in either of 2 major tournaments. To be honest was a bit surprised he didn't replace Osorio in stoppage time when Miller came on last game.

You can tell who’s been watching for a while and actually cheers for the team. Everybody relax and enjoy a win in a major tournament

I think this will shut the St-Clair debate until 2027. Net is his for the next cycle.

I think Crepeau wants a Top-5 league calling. He's been absolutely unreal. 

For anyone who saying this wasn't a good win. Welcome to Copa America, this is how the game is played sometimes. Look at how Peru/Chile went. It's how they play. Factor in the heat and this was exactly what we needed to do.
The only thing that mattered was the result, and we got it. Anyone who doesn't see anything but positives there is kidding themselves.

Easy to say, but every time that ball went inches wide of the post late, goal diff was all I could think about.

About 300 of us met the bus as the team left the team hotel.  The players really appreciated it.  Now marching to the stadium.  Chanting Cristiano Ronaldo as we see Argentines
