  1. Guy was too good for USL from what i saw, I'm sure he'll find a decent club.
  2. Exactly, developing players for the national team is important but so is growing soccer culture in this country. This great sport of ours is about more than just being the best or even being good it's about bringing the community together. As for second teams being in the league I've always been against it for multiple reasons. 1st it's bad for the league's image, it would set it clearly in minor league territory. 2nd, I don't think they would be anywhere near competitive, VWC2 and TFC2 were USL bottom feeders this year and rumor is many USL teams have total payrolls short of 700k a year. 3rd, I believe it would hurt other teams, what casual fans wants to see their local team play a 2nd team. 4th having independent teams in MLS markets would push competition more, while second teams in the league would prop up the MLS teams monopoly in the market. However I believe at the youth level MLS teams and future CPL teams should compete together. For example I'd like to see Ontario CPL teams to put senior academy sides in L1O like TFC3 is. I'd also like to see the impact's oldest academy team along with any CPL teams in Quebec(or Ottawa) to play in the PLSQ. I'd like to see similar things happen around the country with regional youth focused senior leagues(like L1O) being home to smaller market senior teams and pro teams 2nd/academy teams.
  3. I wasn't deeply involved in 2014 so I didn't know 16/17 was ever even discussed.
  4. I posted this in the general but also thought it made sense here. I've made a map with all the potential CPL markets that either have either grassroots support or some sort of ownership group we know about. I've attached teams to future/potential stadium locations. I've also added a layer with road trips within the east/west. Hope you guys like this. Let me know if there's anything I could add or if anything is wrong. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1R1Mgs_kOv9idPAk79ZU7XpZDz9MOnjWY&usp=sharing

  6. I think He's fine, he has been willing to lose money before he/they just need evidence that there's a path to making money or at least breaking even. Canadian sponsors in the CPL will be exposed to a market much larger as home and away games will be in front of Canadians so profits from them could be much higher. Not to mention travel costs could likely be halved a season, he said a game's travel costs could be as high as 50k per game in NASL; let's say average is 25k-30k. That's 400-500k a season just for team travel where as seasons in CPL could probably cost half that. I do think having another investor involved could be nice for for an Edmonton team but the Eddies are already pretty established and have a good academy, maybe a slight rebrand could go a long way with the improved corporate potential of CPL over NASL.
  7. i remember the start date going from hopefully 2018/maybe 2019 to hopefully 2019. Don't remember it being pushed back twice, hell 2018 was never more than hopefully.
  8. Ya also calling Ottawa one of the worst teams in USL would be pretty incorrect, 20th/30 isn't good but it's also not one of the worst. The East is also more competitive in USL.
  9. From what I've watched top-mid tier USL is comparable to NASL while lower tier USL is worse than NASL level(remember a lot of shit USL teams are MLS 2 teams and can't play in cups). Your average opponent in NASL will be better but often you'll face really(north american wise) talented young players in USL.
  10. It says the CFL stadium is rumored to be across the river in Dartmouth, It could be a permanent location for the CPL team as the modulur stadium is definitely short term.
  11. The rumored spot for this stadium is different than the pop-up stadium. However i think if they build an actual stadium they would rather have more events to even out costs of a big CFL stadium. Interesting to see how this turns out.
  12. Friendlies that would be amazing to have in January, China(unlikely). Whoever loses of Australia(seems unlikely)/Honduras(seems pretty possible to me). Haiti(possible). Trinidad(Possible). New Zealand(possible if they lose)
  13. 3 teams playing on one surface would be a lot of wear, but it is possible. i wonder if anyone is going to put money into improving Lamport now that it will have 2 Pro teams there for at least a year.
  14. Where did you see this was for 4 years? I imagine they will make the Saskatoon stadium semi-permanent with concrete foundation(not the stands). Think MapFre http://stadiumdb.com/stadiums/usa/columbus_crew_stadium but with modulur parts and smaller. I could be wrong but it lasting 20 years doesn't seem impossible.
