Imagine being named Emilio Estevez, and only being the second best named player in the league. Dude's been cucked.

What will actually be interesting is to compare the projections with the table about 8 to 10 weeks into the season.  To me, ranking them right now is basically throwing darts given how little we know about many players and how hard it is to compare some of their current/past levels - so it will be interesting to see how accurate (or not) people are.

Well, at the time Ottawa was thought to be onboard before they betrayed their fans and gave Canada the middle finger.

I think I'm the opposite of a CPL hater, I have a couple of season seats, but I'm very much feeling this. I expected to be disappointed by this today, I figured we'd get a streaming deal but not with the service I wanted or something like that... They hyped it up like it would be a really huge announcement for the fans ... and lets be honest, it was not, it was for VW.
I get why they needed to do it but I feel like it's getting to the point where they are really taking advantage of the hardcore here. We are the ones who get the message out... We create the hype, hell, I drove from my university to Halifax for the town hall meeting for the stadium. I understand they have a strategy and for the good of the league they need to strech these out and we need to be good little soldiers, but it'd be nice not to feel lied to.
It was the overwhelming feeling here we were going to get a schedule/broadcast news, they made it seem like that. We got 1 game and a corperate sponsor. We were told we'd have kits by new year, now they might not be until April. Even the player signing press conferences have been BS, the Haber conference was hyped up like it was going to be legit, we got like six minutes of pre written speeches and then they didn't take media questions on livestream.
It's at the point now where the great momentum from all the team announcements is basically dead to me. I like the player announcements and im excited for the league to start play, but im sick of head office and their leading on, tease marketing strategy. Overwhelming ? on CanSoc twitter today. I get its a huge announcement financially, but maybe advertise it as MAJOR SPONSORSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT because at this point I don't trust anything or any deadline an owner or CPL official gives us.

I believe Sukunda is also bilingual, meaning the Wanderers actually have three bilingual players. (Hocine, Sukunda, and Lamy)
We'll be sure to tell the club they should do some French player messages. It takes almost zero effort, but is a nice gesture to the Acadians in NS and NB, and would certainly give us more fans in Quebec.
As part of the supporters group, I've always wanted to have more French engagement, however I cannot speak French. We've had at least one interview done in French, but that's about it. Finding someone who can give it the commitment it deserves is difficult.

In my experience people tend to verbalize "Halifax" and not "H-F-X". It's often even written as Halifax in local media.

Hiring an extra staffer or two, or even putting in place a simple standing offer with a translation service, to provide French-language content isn't exactly going to break the bank. I've worked in public, private, and even not-for-profit shops (!) that still dedicated the resources to bilingual content because they understood the value of it. Some of these were massive organizations with huge budgets, and some of these were as small as five full-time staff and relying entirely on grants and donations. But they all had the common sense to recognize that circumstance should not impact equality in content delivery.
I'm willing to accept a lot of things in year one of the league, due to start-up costs, lack of experience, and a thousand other factors. But this is one point on which I will not - and no one should - budge. This is a bilingual country, and that means a bilingual league. Point final.

Ottawa saying they have plans to stay in USL and not move to CanPL IS CanPL news, like it or not.

Will they also be pricing individual ticket sales at that time as well? Or did you get that far?
I travel a lot for work, and would love to plan a Halifax and Victoria game into my travels.

Sports Entertainment Atlantic hosted rugby and soccer at the Wanderers Grounds this past summer - was at both games. The stand configuration didn’t change at all and the line layout on the field seemed to cover roughly the same area. Can’t imagine they’ll have much troubles switching back and forth.

Which is unrelated. One guy buying in to two different teams doesn't make the whole league single entity.

    WTF are you talking about?!?
The league existed before any teams did. When ownership groups were approved, names, logos, and colours all went through the league offices for creation. The shirt deal is league-wide with a single supplier. The TV deal is being negotiated by the league and, although I have absolutely zero information, I believe the team shirt sponsors will be negotiated by the league.

What is incredible is how some people still think this is a problem more than two years after they announced they were going to do it this way, and after they have actually got this far. This structure has brought us to the brink of pro soccer on a national scale with a positive outlook for coast-to-coast football for years to come.

    Why is this an issue?!?

This thread is about players in the CanPL and individual teams have been given the freedom to recruit players with a salary cap. What more do you want?

The fastest way to destroy this league in its infancy would be to have unlimited player budgets. This lesson has been learned the hard way over the last 50 years in North American soccer.
How about we simply do what normal fans do, and share rumours and hopes of what players might be signed!

    I'm not so sure it's not single-entity.
The league owns the trademarks for all the team names and logos. If it wasn't single-entity, wouldn't the teams own those?
