Legends at 33rd and 5th is a great soccer bar. Right by the Empire State Building too if you're inclined for some pre-game family sightseeing.
Or if you want to rub some salt in some American wounds you could go to the AO's home bar Smithfield Hall (25th between 6th and 7th) and tweet a pic to Alexi and Clint😜

I think two of our handful of guys playing at this high a level not getting minutes is a big issue for us considering how fewer players we have, but I generally agree with your point. When we send guys to Europe, they're expected to be among the best players in their league, whereas the US send over a lot of guys who are fine, if unspectacular players. Our squad has the best RB in Scotland (and one of their best strikers), the best LB in Germany, the best striker in France, the best CB in Sweden (and per their fans, maybe the best player in the league?), Kone, who is allegedly "one of the most desired young mids in the world", among our MLS guys, we have one of the best MLS keepers of his generation, and the two fastest players in the league, arguably two of the fastest players alive. Even Eustaquio was considered one of the best mids in Portugal before he lost his spot to the two youngsters. We don't have the privilege of having guys like Joe Scally, Tyler Adams, Matt Turner, these squad pieces who are brought in just to complete a roster and not become the centerpiece of their clubs. The one guy I can think of who fits that profile is Tajon, but he's being asked to be a squad piece on a club that wants to win a champions league and be the best club in the world.

The US squad is still extremely young, they're extremely talented, and their fans are losing their minds because they imploded. This is their version of the Jamaica loss from earlier this year (but worse, obviously). They will (hopefully for them) get a better coach, their players will continue to grow, and they will win more games, earn more trophies, and see more of their players move to bigger and better leagues and clubs. It is cool though to take a step back and see where our team is compared to theirs- with all of the resources and money and pool of potential players in the world, and yet, there's only one CONCACAF team that's putting top talent into europe, and there's only one team that made the Copa knockouts and won their first game, and that's us.

Honestly, I am pretty happy to let the US soccer superstructure wallow in delusion.   By all means, keep playing all your games at home and then continue to fail on the biggest stages because you can’t deal with adversity.  Keep thinking you are a footy superpower and then self-flagellate when you fail.  Again.  And then don’t do any self exploration - blame it on the fact that you are part of CONCACAF (even though others seem to do just fine in exactly the same situation).
Fuck me, it is something to observe.

    2 million to participate.
Then there's a budget of 40 million US in prizes, divided this way:
If you make quarter finals, you get 2 million US more.
If you get past quarter finals, the 4th place team gets 4 million more, 3rd get 5 million more, the loser of the final gets 7 million, and the winner gets 16 million.
So Canada has already collected 2 + a minimum of 4 more, 6 million US.
Of course we are eagerly awaiting Rick Westhead's explanation of how this is terrible news for Canadian soccer finances.

I'm drained.  The wife and kid finally got to see why I am always so excited, so committed to OUR TEAM.  I have told her the story of the 2000 gold cup and the coin toss and then the slow build up of confidence game by game, then unbelieving numbness on the golden goal and finally the pride that we won.  After the peru game i told her it was starting to feel like that, like we were getting some breaks (reds) and we had the skill to take advantage.
So proud of the effort, all the individual duels the guys won against their opposite number (Johnsotn vs Soteldo was HUGE!!).  They never seemed rattled even with the deflating chip from damn near half, never lost faith, battled for each other....sounds corny but those guys make me proud to be Canadian.  And after the penalties, so articulate and genuine in their interviews.  WOW, just WOW.  Maybe tomorow I can complain about missed chances or players that didnt play well, but right now its all  love for this team.   If this doesnt win over a new generation of kids  and create CMNT fans for life like the 2000 gold cup did for me, I dont know what will.

One thing that is clear is that this group of players is fully unmoored from complexes of years past.

I was certain we didn’t have the nerves to survive the penalties but the composure, self belief, and useful cockiness we saw from Bombito, Davies, Kone, Crépeau is an entirely new phenomenon for our NT.

If people we know can finish, finish, this game is out of sight.

But some absolutely invaluable massive pressure experience.
