This country is a graveyard of failed sports ventures and I can understand OSEG taking a wait and see attitude on the CPL.
Just look at the fact that tonight is the launch of a GTA Major Arena Soccer League team, someone out there thinks it's a good idea and is willing to spend money on it. Does this mean we will see mass expansion of the MASL into Canada, who knows, but as history shows these things fail more often than they succeed. Anyone remember the Canada Baseball League?
I do not see the CPL blacklisting OSEG based on the fact that Bob Young who in many ways is the reason we have a CPL is also a CFL owner. Jeff Hunt is very respected in the Ottawa community. You want the best owners who understand the community not some outsider.

I just do not see a CPL team being viable in Ottawa if the Fury are already playing in the USL as they are. TD is a major league facility and I do not see anything else being perceived that way especially if its some sort of modular pop up thing. Building at the flats is not realistic at all, the land is just too valuable.
Plus if you are a fan/supporter of the Fury are you really going to  jump ship, I don't think so. TD Place has so much going for it.

Problem I could potentially for the CSA in blocking sanctioning for Ottawa is Toronto FCII. As long as the CPL wants nothing to do with MLS reserve teams and thus TFC is allowed to field theirs in USL, it could be very helpful for Ottawa.

David Edgar signs with Ottawa. I see this as a good move.  Good to see the Fury bring in so many Canadians in including someone with the experienced of Edgar. Will be good to see him and the Fury hopefully in the CPL next year.

The biggest difference with the CFL is you can rotate players in and out as much as you want based on formations etc, so having 7 Canadian starters is not quite the same as it would be in the CPL where you have 3 subs. The overall quota is more comparable.

Interesting about the CSA blocking the potential move of Whitecaps 2 to Calgary, Victoria etc. Really shows that want nothing to do with a MLS reserve team burning what was at the time a potential CPL market. It could be the same situation TFC faced if they wanted to move their team to a nearby city, thus still having the players in their setup on a daily basis. This decision by the CSA actually had a negative effect on playing opportunities for Canadians as there are now very few for them in Fresno as the article states.

The USL's Phoenix Rising  is a great example of a team that went the route of a modular pop up stadium. Here is a release from the company that put it up in 52 days. This is the route many of the CPL teams could go while deciding on long terms of a more permanent setup.
