  1. one of the first homegrown signings, so he has to be considered a domestic…but sadly you’re right. …. on further review.
  2. No way he’s considered an international….absolutely no way.
  3. I was thinking about having academies from a different lenses. I always understood that at this stage in the game it's not feasible for there to be "free to play" academies. However I think it would be to the CPL clubs benefit it they bought or created real partnerships with their local clubs to "balance" the books. The main thing is having the brand resonate within the coummunity and make believe scenarios that happens when kids are wearing the same kits as the professional team. What does that look like? Well in today's infrastructure a lot of League 1 Ontario players/clubs are fully paid, which is essentially funded by the lower age groups (if applicable) in the given clubs. If CPL clubs took this format it could be a lot easier to fund these academy teams. We filled the gap with professional teams, now there is one at the academy level. In the current climate (in Ontario) every player is either filtered through 3 clubs...Sigma, Vaughan, or Toronto FC. The two non professional clubs have done a great job at developing talent, but they also have history and been around a lot longer than Toronto FC in regard to moving talent to the next level. So League 1 is great and all, but we need to create a "professional" academy environment...and OPDL isn't it.
  4. Surprised some of you were still watching this tournament….my utter disappointment ran way to deep to watch these second rate countries be in positions we should be in.
  5. I was recently talking to his brother and asked him, and this is the case.
  6. specifically the GTA, and even more specific….Brampton.
  7. Yea, I just find it hard to see why he does well as a number 9. No strength in hold up play, no great speed, no outside shooting ability. He needs to hone his craft at a level where he can.
  8. ….doesn’t make sense, Peruzza was given a new contract this year which recently put him on till 2024. I personally think he should’ve been loaned out to the CPL.
  9. Ayo sure, but Deandre played 9 only in preseason and has featured there much. Why no mention of Peruzza? I personally think he’s just not good enough for this level. Not yet at least. But anyways, it’s better that he’s having a opportunity to make elsewhere. We need more Canadians on non Canadian teams.
  10. I think this kid will be our hidden star....I love the way how he plays.
  11. Or MLS Analyst or whatever...
  12. Considering recent events, I'm not sure we would see a lot of new sponsors coming in....or maybe that could also be the contrary.
  13. Glad I'm not the only one. Had two bad experiences, and said never again. I heard they were once good, but everything changed when they started franchising.
  14. On that podcast, Nick Bontis himself was on there talking about his phone ringing off from top nations....we ended up with Iran, and Panama. So here, go and pick that salt up...
  15. Has Alejandro Pozuelo been mentioned here? I know he's nearing 5 years in Canada....what's the possibility?
  16. Oh I love Cancun, and you would be dumb to think Mexico City is the same as some other parts. Hey man at the end of the day, I'm just stating a common public opinion. 😉
  17. So World Cup and Gold Cup are on the same level is what you are saying? 1970 & 1986 are extremely different times to 2022 in Mexico. There's the incidents that happened between their own people in Quettaro City, I can't imagine the safety measures that would be required in todays climate that couldn't be funded by Concacaf......or maybe they hire the regional Cartels to ensure that things in each city run smoothly. Honest opinion do you think fans would travel to these Mexican cities? Not I.
  18. I think Concacaf is the only federation that doesn't have U21's playing during any international windows. Our tournaments always happen outside of them, which always leaves the door open for the "will they release will they not" dilemma. Although team's are free to schedule friendlies during that time, we know the CSA doesn't do anything out of necessity but only out of obligation.
  19. Canada is literally the next and possible the only option after the USA to host. Mexico, is just a security hazard, and the other nations don't have the infrastructure. Canada has the second most diaspora of the Concacaf countries, and the WCQualifers displayed that with the attendances we seen from those games with the borders closed. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I would do the Gold Cup played in Ontario & Quebec in these 6 stadiums. 20. Yes! This has been one of my points. There was absolutely no reason why we couldn’t have a local camp of guys playing against a CPL side….is it really that expensive to call up a few guys for a camp. Preparation is key with so much on the line and we failed extremely. I knew the end result was going to be a failure due to that, but this showing was abysmal . Poku, Wright, Ferdinand, Mbongue, Zouhir, Henry, Campagna, Alexander, Anchor, Alphonse, Catavolo, Franklin, Assi, Habibullah. 14 of the 20 are based in Canada. 7 of the 20 weren’t at the prep camp in Costa Rica. Like @kacbru said, we treated this like an All star game. Ever since WCQualification every bit of news has been deflating.
  21. Certainty of a contract…kid left the first time with no concrete plan….or maybe they fell apart because of Covid?
  22. Man I appreciate that this kid is getting his confidence, and finding his feet again. I just hope any move for him comes with a certainty. I feel like he's one of those guys who could've benefited from a youth tournament a la Toulon with his English ties.
