Some of these setups are sounding like provincial programs. Train with their club team during the week, and get called up by the team to play.

So what we know of academies so far. These guys are clearing out the young guys on the roster silently if this is true. First Shaffelburg, released Okello, then Petrasso, we heard Nelson rumours, and now Akinola. TFC preseason is going to be interesting.

No they haven't. Being affiliated, and having the full branding is two different things IMO. CPL teams need to be in the position to "poach" those kids for the their U17, & U19 teams where costs are offset from the other academy/competitive & recreational teams that they have from ages 6-18.

@Big_M No it’s not. Henry could’ve taken Waterman or Cornelius spot at the WC, but forfeited it so that another guy could go…. And not play. IIRC Henry was part of every camp, and if not missed very few on our road to qualifying. Definitely deserving of his spot. That display showed exactly what the brotherhood is, and he is also part of the senior leadership. Is that not what you would expect to see in a brotherhood? Its a different culture in the team, that some simply just can’t relate too. What we do know is that Arfield wasn’t apart of it. So he can say one thing in the media, and act another…same goes for Herdman.

Considering a lot of Canadians are pricked (regretfully myself included) everyone knows this but doesn't want to talk to about it. It's taboo because it's now become the fear of the unknown. The unknown is the effects of the prick. While data is there, you can't definitely say "this person died as a result of the prick"....no matter how strong the data is, there's people that don't want to be untold what they've been told to be true. I know 2 people who had sudden heart problems. 1 died, the other was in the hospital for a few weeks doing multiple test. The one who died experience chest pain after playing a game of pickup basketball, went home instead of the hospital and his wife came home to him dead in his bed. The other guy was doing a 5k run downtown and collapsed 1K in. Both of these gentlemen were/are active and healthy and never had any issues prior to the double prick. But like you said....this is a soccer forum and no one wants to talk about it hear. It breeds unconscious fear. Covid had fear tactics. Now the prick is another fear tactic. Few things…. It will take a lonnnggg time for the pay-to-play structure changes, as we know the CSA revenue is directly related to it. I think an idea for the CPL teams is to purchase a local club, so that they already have the infrastructure required rather than starting from “nothing”. Reality is L1O teams are typically funded by the clubs younger teams who are pay-to-play, and that’s how you offset the costs. I’m strongly against our professional footy system being intertwined with the US, however I don’t mind the professional academies being there. I think having CPL academies play in MLS Next Pro, and have a Canadian Youth Championship with only the professional pathway clubs. Ultimately we need more professional academies than we do now. TFC, Caps, and Montreal have wayyyy to much control over the markets and it’s easy for guys to be overlooked or slip through the cracks.

We lost probably a prospect who I think would be active today in Nicholas Lindsay… TFC second home grown signing. Kid had a lot of talent but tore his acl(?) on a snow mobile, and couldn’t return to his former self.

IMO Arfield is now allowed to return to the national team, go get his unwarranted praise back. Heck I would buy a jersey with his name on it, but he’s too selfish and his ego wouldn’t let him do it so he’ll stay retired from international. I just can’t wait for him to retire totally at this point.
