  1. Concacaf had u20 qualifiers back in 22, and the teams that qualified for the semi finals automatically qualified for the U20 WC earlier this year, and the Olympics in 24. https://www.concacaf.com/under-20s-men/article/concacaf-men-s-under-20-championship-to-qualify-teams-to-2023-fifa-u-20-men-s-world-cup-and-2024-summer-olympic-games/ What they failed to mention was it would also qualify teams for the Pan Am Gamea in Chile coming up. 1 Competition performance, qualified you to 3 separate tournaments.
  2. No Mexico, DR, USA, and Honduras are. The same trend that qualified for the U20 this year.
  3. Holy shit... I didn't know that one tournament had so much weight on the line is beyond stupid. 2023 U20 World Cup, 2023 U-22 Pan-Am Games, and 2024 U-23 Olympics. Ridiculous.
  4. Great point, but even still... those 28 mixed in with the USL players (I think there's only a handful) should be a great list for CPL teams to be looking at. I think with CCC coming to the CPL next year, there should be a greater allure to play with a CPL team.
  5. Brym over Corbeanu, Bombito over Ahmed, Piette over Kaye. It was a brief comment for a loaded thought with me ultimately talking shit about the Quebec footprint. But the latter part about Bombito was separate. More in reference to the news about Piette having a greater role@Obinna I prefer to see how Bombito does in the holding, rather than see Choiniere there as he's more offensive. But we could see a middle three of Kone, Piette, and Choiniere - probably would be the first time we would see a middle of all Québécois players.
  6. I rather see Bombito start... Seems like Biello wants to put his Quebec footprint on this team.
  7. I agree,( and the part about Theo)...I don't want Hoilett starting either but the reality is if we play that formation it requires him to start, because there isn't options. I wouldn't want to see Choiniere or Osorio in some awakes formation that puts them on the wings like someone suggested. For me, I was/I've been the #1 advocate here for us to play the 352 since 2019 and it has been monumental for us. I understand the perspective of we may not have the CBS to play it efficiently on the larger stage, but I still think Davies is one of our best attackers, and all of our current depth/personnel is best suited for a 352 - even with the newcomers.
  8. Anybody but Borjan. No disrespect, just want to prepare for the future. I want to see Choiniere and in that position too...just not starting. YET!
  9. My ideal lineups based on formation. 352: Johnston-Corneilius-Miller Laryea-Staq-Kone-Davies -----------Osorio--------- -----Larin------David----- 4231: Johnston-Corneilius-Miller-Davies ---------Staq------Kone---------- Millar---------David--------Hoilett --------------Larin----------------
  10. I'm really interested to see if Biello plays Davies at LB, and if he does - what formation will he deploy. 442, 433, or 4231? Outside of Liam, and the out of form Hoilett...the squad doesn't have any natural wingers. So based on the personnel called up we should expect to play a 352, but his comments in the interview could indicate otherwise.
  11. Well I think you're being harsh. His team hasn't been providing him, and he's been playing well, especially when you look deeper at his xG, xA, and chances created..... 🙄
  12. Scott Kennedy was playing on one of the worst teams in the league but was being touted as our best CB by a lot here... The comparative analysis is off a lot. And I'm not saying he deserves a call up, but when we have some guys who are in camp and have barely played...is when these conversations happen.
  13. Looking deeper I would've stated where those 2 goals came with Basel came against...but I didn't. Again this is relative when you look at the opponent those goals came against. My bad, I thought it was the past 2 games. I have no bias to any players, none of them are my kin. I'm just stating that we have a lot of guys playing at comparable levels, getting similar results. This is true. Complete accident. Got it. Question, does he ever ask or his agent state what position he wants to play in? Not every team plays a 352, so I'm wondering was it communicated that he would play that position? Or was it a surprise?
  14. @blueseekathanks for the update. Sounds to positive for the crowd here though.
  15. .....In case you missed this. @spitfire Based on the previous post, the latter is a fair statement.
  16. I wasn't bashing. I was just keeping everything under the same light, I'm far from biased. I will say you keep mentioning him playing "wingback" but it seems that the very same people who's sole job is to evaluate, assess, and pick teams are always deploying him there. Liam started hot at PNE (wasn't doing well at Basel) and is coming off the bench in recent games. Ike has started 8 of the 11 championship games this season. Here's some quick research from guys I mentioned below. Theo Bair I Kian Froese Ike Ugbo
  17. The thing is potential can only rely on so much optimism. At some point you have to turn to the now. Especially when it comes to goalkeepers...some are career back ups, but I'm sure they had projected potential. For me, the national team should rarely call in guys just based on potential. (I understand if it's done to cap tie) However gone are those days that having Juventus attached to your name, warrants you getting called in.
  18. I watched majority of his games, and his skillset is what we would've got from Cavallini in the past. He holds the ball up very well, and is capable of playing a loan striker. It's a vast improvement to where he was before, because I remember he would struggle and perform better from the wing...but his game has drastically improved based on what we expect from him for his size. We simply don't have an option like him. On another note, Kaye has had a resurgence with NER since his move from TFC...but Piette got called back in? I don't think there is an expected standard...just like here, it comes down to preference for the coaching staff.
  19. On the topic of Millar/Brym in a comparison to those who weren't included. I think they are in the same position that a lot of guys like Corbeanu, Ugbo, and Bair are in, where they started their season off well and have cooled off. In Millars case it wasn't going well at Basel, got his move and played his best game on his debut 7 games ago. That's 1 game from 12 this season. Brym plays at a higher level than all the other guys, but had his best game against league giants Feyenord 6 games ago. Now I wouldn't want to swap Millar out considering some of the other guys in the team, but in comparison to the ones who aren't - Ike and Theo must be thinking "why not me" looking at Millars season so far. You fellas are talking about JRR, and Shaff. But no one has mentioned Theo Bair who has started every game and has 1 goal, or even Kianz Froese who also the same stats.
