  1. Hopefully he’s cut some weight.
  2. That is massive for their continued recruitment and continuity in their program. Their only negative is that they weren’t active this last window.
  3. With limited preparation, there was always going to be guys who missed out. I think what bothers me the most is that we could’ve had two separate camps in North America, and Europe with the amount of guys that “popped out of nowhere”. If we were that serious about qualifying (based on Bonits words) the ability to do so was there.
  4. Ohhh yea seems feasible, we can definitely play the Africans on turf, they won’t care r or even demand a big appearance fee. Tunisia would be a great warmup for Morroco.
  5. Funny you would think it's just Concacaf. I get this feeling that Conembol is getting tired of playing each other over and over again. And want alternative preparations, but everyone isn't available. Concacaf needs to sort out the Gold Cup frequency. With Nations Leagues it has become redundant in having two "major tournament finals" in the same year. It may need to change to an U23 tournament in the "off years" for some value.
  6. Beautiful picture. I don't think many fans are against it even though that narrative is pushed heavy around here. To me, this looks like our national stadium...it's just...it's just....the pitch 🤷🏿‍♂️. Not only the whole fake grass debate, but it doesn't play true. You don't have to be a professional to know this. Solve the pitch, and we have a marquee stadium.
  7. I fucking hate it. And it's never ending. Reason why I’ve said I’ve slowly lost interest. Both their leagues are non stop growing(MLS and USL)....with no connection. We are developing a system completely contrary to that, but then saying ....well our richest clubs don't have to be apart. I liked the Whitecaps and the Impact for what they did before joining MLS. Now I just feel like they are lost in the mission or purpose. Suffering an identity crisis.
  8. You bring up valid point. I think if those teams came over to the CPL, the salary cap would most definitely increase - to what extent? I don't think MLS (now) salaries, but Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal could still offer significant larger salaries. MLS is slowly catching up to Liga MX in salary, and that has taken 20+ years. There's reason to believe that the CPL could get to MLS 1.0 salaries in near future (2026) with additional sponsors. Canadian players would still be playing in MLS, and thats completely fine. Transfer fee's will be paid, or players signing on a free. Ultimately we would be in control of our system. The CSA doesn't get a piece of the pie like the USSF does. The reality is that the CPLs potential will forever be hindered/capped because of the perception, and the strongehold MLS has on the Canadian market. I can see the apathy that is engrained in Canadian culture, and we gotta make a shift on that mentality of relying on the states for all of our entertainment, or content, and for those avenues only deemed worthy from their approval. I hate it.
  9. Reason why our talent shouldn't be hindered or restrained by being tied to MLS. I know some don't see this as the case. I've stated how I feel about this, as I am a purist and want the MLS teams in CPL in the near future. I think it will be great for our culture, the system, and the main reason being the development. Players/Coaches need to be given consistent opportunities on the continental level, as we've seen what it did for Kone. Or how we seen Forge do with a Canadian coach, and majority team. That won't happen with our limited automatic spots in the CCL going forward. Opportunities will be limited. I want to stress this a lot. What would happen is TFC, MTL, and the Caps would basically get the best talent, and would annually compete for the title. But that's part of every football league. The benefit is the rules would be in place. I hope the precedent set by Concacaf with Ottawa will be consistent. The Canadian MLS teams can make a lot of money by selling their franchise to some Americans wanting to put a team in a deserving city.
  10. Why because of the limited sun? I’m sure theres gotta be a way sOme engineer can figure out, the need just isn’t there - yet.
  11. Went through the thread, and was like hmmm I’ve seen this before. Aka Jamaica. The better players means a better Concacaf. I’m interested in seeing if 50% of those targets show up.
  12. Other than Mexico & USA, teams were selected on merit last time. Caribbean Cup Champs - Jamaica Centroamerican champs - Costa Rica Panama beat Cuba in a playoff Haiti beat Trinidad in a playoff. At the time Canada was ranked 10th and didn’t qualify for the play-ins.
  13. There’s no reason why BC place doesn’t have a hybrid surface. If it did, it would be our marquee stadium.
  14. This is an understatement. The stigma surrounding turf is still consistent throughout major international teams. If anything the sports science has increased, and teams don’t like players playing on turf, and will complain at any chance. It’s even harder for national teams to select those players knowing the circumstances - what makes it worse is when it’s a friendly. Nearly 10 years ago Chile v Brazil at the sky dome was played on make-a-wish grass that was thick and choppy, but was still preferred over playing on the turf that laid beneath. If anything the turf stigma has got worse, and no top team would be willing to travel to Canada to play. We are talking about Brazil or Argentina not Curaçao.
  15. Thought that was a surprise for all the press he was getting at TFC. I can only hope there is an additional camp before the final camp/selection.
  16. Petrasso in this short time has shown he has more skill, composure than Shaff too.
  17. The guys in the booth, gotta be better…almost perfect. Because they are wasting time.
  18. I love var….but the definition of clear and obvious is bullshit. When you have to take that long to decide it’s “clearly not clear” The Arsenal game today was annoying…for me.
  19. Shway

    Tom Holmes

no update on him and his eligibility yet huh...
  20. Really…no, no…really Narduch.
  21. Yea because they are charging stupid prices for seasons. One championship season and they doubled the prices. I remember having 2 seasons seats for $950 in section 121. The year before they won. They called me this year with the hoopla of Insigne and was offering me section 221 for $1260 a seat or something stupid. I get there's inflation, but yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa no thanks. The girl goes, you can even sell the tickets that you don't want to go for at a higher price and make your money back. Encouraging scalping ffs.
  22. 100% it's a glorified college stadium. Remember they built BMO on a whim, with the expectation that it would NOT be as successful as it was. Or else they would've invested more money on the infrastructure. I've been to Saputo, Tim Hortons, Commonwealth, TD Place, and BC Place! All but BC place give me a low-budget vibe. It's just BMO pitch is the best in the country. With the temporary upgrades that will be done to BMO....it's not going to be a good representation of our country. Especially as the "marquee" stadium.
  23. Wow shocked face! Maybe a June recall - might be a stretch but he's jogging above. He must've of did that horse placenta treatment that speeds up recovery....remember that lol
  24. One we’re Canada. Secondly it’s soccer not hockey. So it’s not that surprising to me. I agree with your last point, we probably got the most guys from different countries who are professional dual nationals. (England might up there) Shaan Hundal, and Shamit Shome could play for India and Bangladesh (I think I’m missing someone too) Look at the U20 team, there’s Greece, Guyana, Portugal, Brazil, Iran, Germany, USA, Italy, Jamaica, Morroco, Haiti, New Zealand, England, Ghana, France, Eritrea….what a melting pot. Its time we use it to our advantage.
