  1. I think this is key. Yes we are all thinking....it's time Vancouver. It's time to show the rest of the country and the squad why BC place should be regularly considered. However on the flipside, the ticketing of this match is very a important contribution to that. And I'll defend my Vancouver brothers if we see tickets touching $50+ in the upper bowl for Curacao, resulting in half full stadium - I'll back them. But then there's my Montreal brothers who haven't had a game in a longer time, and I feel more confident in a sellout at Olympic stadium because of many factors.
  2. Brighton. I don’t see JD in the Orem this year. He “needs” to move this year, and I would prefer a league like Serie A.
  3. There's an @ function that allows you to mention them. For future reference.
  4. Believe it or not, you may bring up a great point. I'll reserve this comment for when they release the 2022 CSA report and we see the breakdowns. However this is a separate conversation.
  5. https://canadasoccer.com/news/canada-soccers-mens-national-team-returns-to-british-columbia-in-june-for-concacaf-nations-league-at-bc-place/ This all but confirms no friendly for June...which shouldn't be surprising. The reason being we were the last team drawn, and all the other teams had confirmed friendlies before we were put into our group. Such is life. Such is being a Canadian footy fan.
  6. Lol you wishful thinking much. Season finishes in September, with playsoffs to follow I believe.
  7. This is the excuse they could give but I’m not buying it-nor should you. Fifa is about to give us 10M for the World Cup, that’s money we know that is coming in. Reality is we won’t “need” friendlies like we do now, as in the future we are heavily occupied with GC and NL. So bring Italy in MTL, pay the appearance fee (which shouldnt be like a WC teams price 🤭) pay the price to put down grass in the unused Olympic Stadium and give it time settle. Increase prices, sell out 60+ and let’s win. Money should not be an excuse. I repeat money should not be an excuse! I don’t have to know, but I’m sure they (the CSA) have made more money than they forecasted.
  8. Eligible for the U20s
  9. Don’t you dare lower your standards of expectations based on a reserve league.
  10. Off the top, not counting the ones in the squad now….let’s go…..Doniel, Ashtone, Keith Makubuya, Oscar Cordon, Matt Stinson, Dunn, Romeo, Aparacio, Roberts, Fraser, Hamilton, Nicholas Lindsay (kid had the most ready made promise, sad knee injury)…I’m done. Wait one of Babouli or Edwards…or maybe none.
  11. Now that his club future is sorted, maybe he comes out of retirement 🤭.
  12. Sorry for offending you too. Forgive me!
  13. Oh I see now, I was shitting on y’all’s boyhood leagues. Forgive me.
  14. Okay but European football was technically only available to two teams (Old Firm). However with the introduction of Conference league it has changed things a bit in giving a few games, but go look at how far Scottish teams made it. Where is there empty stands in the EPL lol? Without Celtic Park and Ibrox the rest of the stadiums are equivalent to Championship and League 1 stadiums. Or how about they went where they were wanted and would play? Joe Hart - was kicking tires in the EPL...nobody wanted him. Arfield - left a good Burnley side, where he wasn't getting any PT and left to join his boyhood club project to get back to the top. (I think he could've bumped around with another team) Defoe - couldn't perform wasn't getting minutes at Bournemouth, left and went to Rangers and resparked his form at age 35. Ramsey - was available to EPL teams, but everyone passed on him because of the money he's on and essentially being passed it. Charlie Adams - left Reading in the Championship to go to Dundee to be a key figure in that squad. Morale of the story is, guys go the SPFL when their careers are stalling and need to be reignited, and they just want guaranteed playing time.
  15. Maybe I'm not explaining my self properly, but again the gap is a loose point. The quality is the main point, in referring to the league. The point was made about the "top end", when really it's just two teams (old firm). Do you think Watford has an inferior quality of players to the likes of Hearts? No chance! They could easily be in the SPFL, and compete for the title with the squad they have. It's not the same for Alaves, but I believe they would have the quality to be in the real "top end" (spots 1-6) of SPFL. So you can say the gap between Liverpool and Watford is no worse than that of Old firm to Dundee, but the gap between Liverpool and Old Firm is equivalent to the gap between Liverpool and Watford. There's a reason why guys like Scott, Defoe, Ramsey, Stephen Davis, Charlie Adams, Joe Hart, and the list can go on can have longggg EPL careers, and extend it by playing in the SPFL. Quality is the main point.
  16. Main thing that was said was “shows there's a bit more quality at the top end of the SPFL than some people realize.” Quality was the main point. Celtic & Rangers would easily be 10-15 in the EPL table. So yes we do see that in European leagues, but top to bottom, the SPFL has probably the most drastic change in quality.
  17. I don’t think anyone doubted the quality at the top two. It’s the drastic quality drop between them…. The fact that 3rd is 19 points back, and the negative GDs start from 4th place is my realization. Congrats to Scott making the final. I hope he goes on and wins it!
  18. Ugh oh….I see excuses brewing for the reason why we don’t see a friendly. @Bison44 confused I understand. But if we see a lot of key members unavailable due to various reasons, we could hear that "it didn't make sense" or some bs.
  19. And what we do have is two very great salesman like talkers in Bontis and Herdman. However the latter has sold us into a great, reliable deal, that everyone could now trust. The former is saying too much too early (I.e both NFP interviews)
  20. In a rebuilding year… I don’t know, is it really that bad? Sooo many guys left this past offseason, and to bring in 8 reasonably priced, knowing half will pan out is risky vs playing young prospects seeing what pans out and then adding to it. I don’t like the results, but I do like seeing more Canadians and less of Mullins, Delgado, or Dwyer. The answer is coming in the summer….just you wait 🤭.
  21. reason for the emoji. ....sad we always expect the bare minimum. Money can't be the excuse anymore either.
  22. I’ve suggested this: - An expanded squad to 30 guys 🤭 - First team plays the friendly (1-16) - Fringe first and new players play the Curaçao game (16-30) - First team and standouts return for Honduras
  23. Meanwhile they were quick to launch Red + White + Gold + Black + Blueballs... I totally get the fact that they like to move in silence, and that doesn't typically mean "nothing is happening". But they still have to move "different" than they used to, too change perceptions, and that hasn't. My main issue with these lack of announcements is that it doesn't give fans enough time to prepare/plan/or book. It's always a last minute scramble to rearrange this, or cancel that because everything is always so fluid with these guys and there's always a reason or challenge that only WE (CSA) seem to face. Our first CNL game is less than 5 weeks away, and maybe there is a friendly before....do you know how annoying it is explaining to the wife last minute "I'm going to Vancouver next weekend".... "wait, for what"..."a Canada game" "wtf, why am I hearing this now"...."oh because ......" I can't be the only one who would experience that.
