Considering that the USSF would need to give approval for a US based team to play in the CPL, and would likely impose their own domestic player restrictions (which would undoubtedly be far more then MLS's slightly better then paltry requirements) that only makes a US team a dealbreaker.

It's strikes me as fairly clear why they don't want to engage the MLS clubs. The CPL knows they must not in any shape or form (especially at inception) make it seem this league is going to be a farm league. That means no affiliate agreements, that means no farm squads coming in.
So realistically, what other reasons would the two have to meet? MLS isn't going to cooperate with marketing of the league. Heck they barely even want to market the V-Cup. As far as I can tell, the only thing to talk about is nomencalture and understanding of player movement between the leagues, but a large degree of that is in FIFA's hands. What else is there to talk about?

If the realistic level of play(after a couple years I would say) is somewhere between USL/NASL and MLS than farm teams wouldn't provide that quality. It also de-legitimizes the CPL's D1 status by having farm teams. It's worth the extra year wait if the league has only independant clubs.

If this is legit, I wonder how his Canadian team is able to play in a league with a similar season and travel.  However given the 7 followers I tend to believe it's a fake or parody account

If I recall, the Ti-Cats were just about the jump onto the NASL boat and then the Traffic scandal hit (that or Young had some inside info having previously been a part NASL owner of the Railhawks) and that went south, which then became the driver for Young to start the CanPL. I know he sent a survey asking people what they wanted in a pro soccer team, and everyone I knew was pretty adamant it not be a farm or play in the USL (because it would be perceived as a farm) but as Hamilton's team first and foremost.
When council rejected the Lynx, I think one of the Councillors hinted at not wanting just a small farm team, but the bigger reason why council cited rejecting them was that their plan was a mess. They hadn't had authorization yet from the CSA or the USL to play in the USL, they were still in the process of becoming TFC2 and they didn't really have a lot of numbers when questioned by council. It was very clear that they threw something together in a rush as a long shot to maintain soccer exclusivity in the region, and the city, not wanting to alienate the Ti-Cats and potentially uncork further stadium debate.

A level of 0.18...that isn't a bit tipsy, that's hammered, usually around 0.20 is where most are at the point of vomiting.

Considering 0.05-0.08 is typically the limit is most countries/states, I'd have have slightly more sympathy for him (still wrong, but he could have misjudged time/his level or the device could have been miscalibrated) but with that high a blood alcohol level, that is well into the tank, and it's really hard to find doubt in that high a number.
Innocent until proven guilty, but I have doubts of his innocence on this one, and if he's found guilty, I hope they throw the book at him to be honest. Driving while that intoxicated is a serious risk to people's lives, athlete or not.

As far as the Gold Cup? I'll put it this way, I will certainly not find any fault on Zambrano's part if Larin did not make the roster. I'll be surprised if he's on it, but I understand you go with the player who gives you the best chance to win.

I'm less inclined towards playoffs, more inclined towards two regional divisions and the winners of the divisions play in a 2 leg final. Especially when the league is starting. One of the biggest complaints people have about the CFL is the fact that you have 9 teams and more then half (6) make the playoffs.

Why even mention this at this point? It's been over 7 years since the stadium debate, 5 years since the facility was built at the site of the old Ivor Wynne and 2 years since the Pan Ams.

I don't know if it's been mentioned,  but it's not really the same to compare MLS starting up in NFL stadiums, to CPL starting up in CFL stadiums. It's not like they're the 60-80k monsters they have down there. Still big, yes, but a lot easier to grow into.
Don't know how many know this on here,  but Rugby Canada is playing a world cup qualifier against USA this summer at THF. Right now just the lower stands are open. So while hopefully that fills up, we'll still get a good look at what the atmosphere will be like with a lot less than 24k in there.

We're planning to meet up at Descendants Bierhalle on January 10th. Will have Gillian Heidary from KW United talking about United and maybe Nathan Ingham (Former United keeper and recently with FC Edmonton) coming to hang out.  Still planning things, but this is an open invitation to attend!
