Something happened. Either he wasn't called and must have thought he wasn't in Herdman's plans, or Herdman called him but gave him an ultimatum that if he couldn't commit to this window he likely wasn't in Herdman's plans in the future.
Either way it is sad to lose a player of Scotty's quality.

We should be celebrating his short but eventful Canada career. A Premiership quality player who chose Canada despite other options (yes waiting for Scotland counts), I think we should give Arfield credit for being one of those transitional pieces from the 'old' Canada to the 'new' Canada. He was there captaining the side with a young Davies, David, Larin, etc in the squad. And he always gave it his all. I'm sure he helped move the program forward to where it is now.
So thank you very much for your service Scotty! I'm sure Canada will qualify for the World Cup and crush it and bring a smile to your face!

Just an update on the Flags. 

Canada Soccer has agreed to look after shipping the flags game to game and storing them.  

I can't tell you how much easier this is for us.

Seriously people. We've been at this for 2 years now we don't need the CSA to announce contingency plans for something that is completely unknown. If you're travelling to this match there is a risk you won't be going. That is all you need to know to make a decision at this point. 
What do you expect them to do? Take a guess and release a flowchart of what they'll do in each of the possible scenarios? How would that help you anyhow? It's not like they're going to say "if we're down to 50% here are the seats that will be available".

We can talk about logistics wrt to games outside of that, but none of this stuff here.

All right then. It’s settled.

He also has pretty good hold-up play, pretty good in the air, nice free kicks too; he is wily, knows how to pick it up or slow it down, moves well between the lines. You know he's never lazy defending. Gives us a lot of stuff we don't have too much.

None of our 3 upcoming games are a slam dunk. For as well as we have performed on the road, we haven't won on the road yet in the Oct. If I had to bet I would say that ends this window, but it's not unfathomable that we lose to Honduras, not unfathomable that we lose to USA, and then we go into El Salvador as a wounded team.
We are undefeated so far, and that's awesome. But the last time a team went undefeated in the last round of qualifying was Mexico in 1998, the first year of the Hex. Of course the Hex was only 10 games, and an undefeated campaign has only been done once in 6 cycles. So as good as we are, it's unlikely we go undefeated through all 14 games.
I have a real hard time predicting how many points we come out of this window with. I can easily convince myself of any outcome. It's exciting, and terrifying.
