There are some valid concerns about attendance.  They are not limited to Vancouver.

This is mostly speculation and an attempt at discussing things to find solutions.

I think match fatigue is a real thing, and there is a strange sense of, I don't know what to call it, 'completeness' to qualifying.  Not that the world cup is not interesting, but qualifying was like getting a monkey off your back.  I think there area  number of people who feel like they can take their foot off the gas a bit.  And those people are responsible for bringing lots of other people.

We, and the collective we as in all the SGs are getting older.    We need to change that and unlike the club SGs we have the flexibility to do more interesting things with space in the stadium.   A wholesale change of who we sell to and how we sell tickets in the section is needed.

A very successful and unique WCQ run masked the changes.  I told people that the Jamaica game would be the 'last' Voyageurs game as we normally experience them.

Article mentions the Canadian players have been in contact with members of the U.S. men’s national team. This is likely behind their demand for a 40% cut. 33 players divided by about C$12.6 million means C$153k per player or US$121k. If they don't get out the group stage, this is a bit above average.
USSoccer payout of 90% to 80% of World Cup monies is an extreme outlier. I'm not sure why they gave everything away.
France paid out 30% to their players for winning in 2018. Germany had no bonus if they don't get past the group stage. Had Germany made the quarters, the payout would have been US$87k; semis would have produced US$145k.
England had no bonus until they reached R16. If they had won, the payout would have been US$269k. Spain had the largest payout if they won at US$950k. Brasil was next highest at US$930k.
So, 10% is on the low end but 40% with <50% probability of reaching knockout stage is too high.

We are meeting at Red Card

We are going there because I did not want another bar to open for us and staff it when we could not gaurantee a decent crowd for them.  RC is already open.

This is interesting as it dispels the myth that we could have sent a B squad to NL instead and played a friendly at the same time

Bontis an MD?   I thought he taught biz at McMaster.

EDIT: Bontis is not an MD. He might have a PhD, but is not a medical doctor

Two different people wearing Canada jerseys told me Curacao was not good enough 'for them' to go.   This was at two different bars for the CL final.

Not a single person there was going to the game.  The contempt was as fresh as lurking in Commercial street cafes in the 90's
