Admin got a reaction from Rintaran in CPL Stadium Thread
2026 could be good for the CanPL.
We will almost certainly be used as a staging area for a lot of teams.
Notawasaga was built for Germany in 1986.
If we play our cards right, maybe we can get a few small stadiums out of this.

Whoa....
We don't need to brood over bad things that haven't even happened yet.
We have enough real ones.

We're thinking we should be able to pull two buses together.

New article from John Molinaro on the opportunity ahead of Morgan in the coming weeks. With Morrow and Edwards both called up for Gold Cup, now is Morgan's time to shine.

Admin reacted to MtlMario in Ballou Tabla
I had the chance last night at the MTL/VAN game to have a small chat with Mr. Zambrano and asked him about Tabla and he said "I'm ready, he's ready" but there are other things holding him back at the moment(we all know what that is). So at least to me it sounds that least he wants to play for us. Hopefully at the end of the day it will tilt the decision in our favor. Btw Mr Zambrano is a very personable person. He even came down from his loge when I asked him for a picture with him and chatted for a couple of minutes more. It's sad that of all the people passing us (north section) nobody recognized him.

There are rumors that MLS has received multiple transfer offers for Larin:

No word yet on clubs or dollar amounts, but if this is true hopefully more info will follow soon.

I don't think so. It might be if they secretly tried to run up the price against a third party with no intention of actually transferring the player.

Admin reacted to Duane Rollins in CCL hype train goes west
As most know, the Vancouver Whitecaps became the third Canadian team to reach the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals after their two leg win over the Red Bulls last month. In doing so they added to Canada's argument to be seeded in the new format, which starts later this year. With 16 teams in the knock-out phase it's hard to argue against Canada being placed in the top eight, actually. Gaining more spots is another story. Let's wait until the Canadian Premier League is involved before opening that can of worms.
At any rate, if the Whitecaps are to become the second hoser squad to make a final they have their work cut out for them. They have drawn Liga MX power Tigres -- they of three Mexica titles since 2011 and fresh off a CCL finals appearance. In the requisite YouTube hype video released today the Caps have called the match-up David v Goliath. That might be doing a disservice to Goliath.
Speaking of the hype video:
I'll leave it up to you, dear reader, to decide whether a team that claims it plays in #SoccerCityCanada (which by virtue of that claim means that they think the city you live in isn't) is deserving of #Canada4Caps. No one should feel an obligation to cheer for a club team just because they play in the same country as you, even if there are only five fully professional teams in your country. I doubt many Caps fans were cheering for TF...actually they might have been because, well. Seattle. That was a bad day for them, wasn't it?.
If you do watch that video you'll note that it appears that the Caps are now fully boarding the Alphonso Davies hype train. Not gonna lie, the idea of seeing Davies line up against a top Mexican side is very appealing.
Unless he decides to represent Liberia.
I'm sure it will be fine.

I've also heard the senior men's amateur national champions will be added as well at some point.
At the very least it will be eye opening I think for the guys who have talked about being better than every pro team for 20 years.

Admin reacted to Grizzly in Paul James is on a Hunger Strike
That Paul James has drug and mental issues is true and sad but like most of what he writes I doubt this is a very accurate account of what caused him to lose his jobs and not be hired as a coach. Tam Nsaliwa once wrote an account (no longer on his website) about what it was like to play for him as part of the U20 and it was a pretty horrible experience for him and all the players. During his journalism career and then in his online book James viciously attacked many of the other members of the Canadian soccer community and there was always a constant theme of everyone else being evil and James being persecuted by them. This text reads quite similar. While it is possible James is not getting the treatment he needs for whatever reason I suspect those institutions that fired him or don't want to hire him are doing it for behavioral and attitude problems not discrimination against drug use and the mentally ill. Now those behavioral and attitude problems may well be due to his drug use and mental health problems but at the same time you can't hire someone acting like that. I would be curious whether James is seeking treatment for his problems because it seems like he is someone in need of full time care.

Admin reacted to gwsmith63 in Fraser Aird
If you were watching his game under McCoist over the previous few seasons then, yes, he was playing more attacking in a wider role and getting quite a bit of playing time.
However, this year he hasn't really featured much at all for the first team as the new Manager looked at him as the main cover at RB for James Tavernier.
Aird has made only four appearances for Rangers in 15/16; all as a sub. In three of them he subbed on for Tavernier (all late in games - 81st minute, etc.) and the fourth one it was for Barry McKay (winger).
Majority of his career at Ibrox has been attacking winger. This year, more of an attacking RB when played.
Versatile player who can also play on the left side (as he did for Rangers at times).
Wish the lad all the best in Vancouver.
