A good opportunity for a win on the road with a very incumbent heavy squad.

Spain and Barça are slightly underperforming, especially starting matches slowly, so if Canada comes out aggressive we could take advantage.

Also they don't have Bonmatí, Paredes, have new faces and fly to Italy after.

They're ripe for the picking.

I am saying that, a bit tongue in cheek.

It's true that Spain and Barça reflect each other, lately both are overly self-sufficient, a bit smug, confident, and underestimate opponents. And normally can get away with it.

Salma Paralluelo is not officially injured. She hasn't played a minute since the bronze match at the Olympics. They say she had burnout and they are doing prevention. I wonder if there are personal or even psychological issues. It's interesting that for the women, clubs are often more patient and there is less pressure, since what you are spending is relatively low (or even, for Barça, extremely low), and there's no reason you can't just wait.

We have a galvanized side defensively, for the most part, though we should have been punished by the Germans a couple of times in the first half of the Olympic QF.  Up top, our athletic runners and grafters can cause problems with the press against a back line that got exposed by both Colombia and Brazi. So, I like our chances for a road win here, let alone a point.

I'm glad that Alidou is getting another look, although not happy that Lacasse got hurt.  Alidou looks so good around the net on her club.  She wasn't that convincing the last time I saw her play for CWNT, but I'm hoping it was just nerves and she shows more of that inventiveness the next time.
