Match Thread: Voyageurs Cup - Preliminary Round - Atletico Ottawa v Valour - May 1, 2024

long balls are easily being sent over haynes' head...ottawa has found the weak spot and going at it...zapater makes it 2-0 on a header on a corner...hundal and binate just watch

man verhoeven is bad...cheaply gives the ball away in midfield like he used to do with his other clubs on the 3-0 goal...34' sanchez in for samake who indeed couldnt keep going...looks like theyve gone to a back four...campbell complains after a foul and gets a yellow

its indeed a back four with haynes at cb and chantzopoulos now on a yellow...can expect more goals in the second unless gonzalez tells them to slow it down

I'd say ATO has two options at this stage:

I. Left our foot from the pedal. We play them again this weekend so may well rest our guys for that and not give them a bigger chip on their shoulder then needed.

II. Go for the record for the biggest win in CanChamp (a 6-0 win by the Impact in 2013), or at least the biggest CPL win in CanChamp (a 5-0 York win in 2021).

Chantzopoulous is awful and the only health CB Valour has left.  Injuries and the brutal decision to only sign 4 when they are going to play 3.  They could have at least signed a USports CB -- Pianelli could have been added on the cheap.
