Anyone else think they took out one of those high-interest payday loans to try and change the channel on the constant flow of depression that had been doled out prior to the Netherlands announcement?

Like everyone else they are front running rate cuts from the BOC :)

Those rate cuts aren't happening anytime soon....but shhhhh....don't tell them....I want friendlies galore!

Forgive the dumb question, but how does this work money-wise? If you host the friendly, you pay the visitor a fee but collect all the proceeds? And if you're the visitor the host covers your travel + fee?

If that's the case, given our inability to sell out home friendlies, we're going to be playing away friendlies forever.

so we playing flores or what

I watched some of his game for Tigres the other day against Club America.  He started and went the full 90 in a decent game.  However, this game will be remembered for two plays.  I'll let everyone enjoy...

Here we have Marcelo doing his best Boateng impression...

And here we have Marcelo doing his best Cristiano impression (if you've seen the miss against Al-Ain yesterday)...

So despite playing a decent game overall, most people are reflecting on these two players above 😄if he keeps this up, we won't need to worry about him in September.

What is going on during those two windows?

UEFA: All teams will be playing UEFA Nations League.

OFC: New Zeland is free in September but not October. Same with the other (weaker) teams.

AFC: Weaker teams already knocked out of WCQing will be available. All the good teams will be in WCQing

CAF: African Cup of Nations qualifying. Only the four weakest nations will be free.

CONMEBOL: All will be playing WCQing

CONCACAF: All will be playing Nations League except for the top four rated teams, just like in 2023.

- - - - - - -

Assuming we don't drop from 4th to a lower ranking in the CONCACAF rankings by the cutoff date (late March?)

Given the serious lack of options, the rumour is that we have been invited by Mexico to play a friendly in the USA in September:

Either Dallas or Los Angeles.

...and yes, I know the previous version of this thread gave us plenty of false hope as we only played one match against Japan out of a possible four during those two months last year:

I think something like this, appearance fee and costs. They keep gate receipts. We will have to go on tour for a bit I think before we can really start to host.

^^^a reminder of how SUM actually had ways to generate significant revenue without draining it out of the USMNT and USWNT programs. "Canadian SUM" never looked sensible to me for that reason because there is no equivalent of the Mexican-American community in a Canadian context but it never dawned on me that the CSA would go as far as committing a deliberate act of financial self harm to get the show on the road in CanPL terms.

Anyone who didn’t realize this off the hop is a rookie. If this is considered “controversial” then sign us up. They’re playing a home World Cup and good prep matches whilst making $ - what is controversial about that?

Ohh man, that's rough on a young kid.  Got very important minutes vs the Liga MX giants, and that happened.  Gonna take some serious sports therapy to shake those two plays off.  Crazy part is if he defended the first GA and scored the one in the dying minutes, it "could" theoretically have been 1-1 instead of 2-0.

I don't wish this kinda thing on anyone, but I would've preferred this happened to his dad than Marcelo.
