Unfortunately, this would probably mean the end of the 'Caps having a decent spread of home games in the August - October period, and post-March, as the dipshits at MLS HQ would pack all their home dates into the November - February period when a bunch of the other teams wouldn't be able to play at home.

If they did change the schedule and kept the Leagues Cup, it would make sense to shift the Cup in to the winter months then host it exclusively in warm weather areas. Sort of like the major bowl games in college football.

Unless it's a preseason tournament, theres no way they change the schedule and keep that tournament.

Fixture congestion will be crazy and star player availability will be limited.

Here's a list of the calendar post World Cup 26:

- Gold Cup 27'
- AFCON 27'
- Copa America 28'
- Euro 28'
- CWC 29'
- Gold Cup 29'

Funny how the playoffs come around and all of a sudden none of the matches over-lap.

Its like they are basically admitting that playing all matches at the same time is stupid.

Pelley at TFC has stated on multiple occasions that there will be more afternoon games next year, suggesting (to me) he is confident he will overcome any pushback from MLS/Apple.  Maybe, instead, this is a prevailing a trend among many teams.

If they run a fall/spring schedule, they're likely to have a break in the middle. That's not uncommon in Europe. I'm merely suggest they end up filling that break with the Leagues Cup, hosted exclusively in warm weather areas. None of this would prevent players from participating in the above events (though players would be missing for AFCON).

Winter break is also when LigaMX takes time off. So, it will be viewed as a pre-season tourney by Mexican clubs which is the case currently for some of the clubs.

Liga MX players won't be happy as their only break will then be in June. No break in most years for national team players.

The final for the last Apertura was Dec. 17, 2023.

The Clausura started on January 12, 2024.
