This opening ceremony is lame af

The Italian ceremony to kick off the last Euros was so memorable.

Today it seemed like they just remembered a few days ago an opening ceremony was required.

UEFA people talk of making the Champions League Final also an entertainment spectacle a la the Super Bowl. Yet, they went backwards with Lenny Kravitz for UCL opening ceremony and didn't even bother today.

Even the Beckenbauer homage was just plain ordinary to awkward.

Best sign so far...

Canadians never fail in committing clear fashion violations when attending football matches. Announcer: Did they go to the wrong stadium?

In terms of resell market, Canadians are third in buying tickets to the Euros - behind USA & Germany. Canada isn't in top 5 in terms of original ticket buys via UEFA but Albania does make it with Germany & England.

I hope our supporters come out in full force for Copa America like that

Maybe if the matches weren't so far away. Hamburg is pretty close for a lot of Dutch.

I know a lot of Americans are complaining about a lack of USMNT matches in the Northeast for this Copa and for the World Cup and the same thing goes for us, too. We would likely have more people out if CMNT managed to play in Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Boston instead of Orlando, Kansas City, Los Angeles...

Best street skirmish so far..

At least 6 Serbs arrested. Yesterday, 67 Italians were put in preventive detention because they were wearing balaclavas, possessing knives/firecrackers and trying to get into a fight with Albanians.

Update: Sky is reporting Albanians may have also been involved in this skirmish.

That's not what Sky said.

Lots of conflicting and changed reports. So, not clear which parties were involved anymore. But Sky did post it.

So then they did not say that Albanians were "also" involved.

They said they were the only ones involved.

Posting up something from a Serbian American who gets his video from a hooligan site and calls people rats ... probably not your best source.

Spain dismantled Croatia with relative ease, and the Croats could not even put a late penalty in (saved, rebound, scored, but called back for a foul). Morata went in on a Fabian pass alone, though bothered, and finished well, they had another breakaway shortly after. Then, recommend the Fabian Ruiz goal, probably the most artful so far in Euros. Then Carvajal in the middle of the box in striker position scoring off a cross from Yamine Lamal. With no stars, no players with any charisma either, just some touches of youth and players from teams below the top level (Real Sociedad provides 5 i think), Spain is very balanced and plays as a team.

As for Croatia, semi finalist in Qatar, lose to Spain in the last Nations League final, then in a year, without properly renewing the team and insisting on some old names, they seems to have slipped quickly into decadence. I mean, they have young guys in the call up, but they play Perisic who's 35, Modric gets minutes at 38, Kramaric and a few others in the early 30s, but seem to have slipped fast.

What seemed to be a dangerous group, with Italy and Albania as well, may not be as hard as it looks because only Spain has looked solid, after Italy struggled vs. Albania (a bit like England today, dominant, then letting go and losing control).

I also watched Danes and Slovenes, not very good quality football.

In the Sky video report, the reporter says eyewitnesses told him England fans were caught up in the incident but he didn't see any English fans.

Other reports also said different things or reinforced it. For instance, Athletic says "Local police indicated that the incident involved fans from both England and Serbia...They also confirmed — contrary to some social media reports — that no Albanian citizens have been connected to the incident.
