high pressure on him after all this talk of playing for top spots and firing a coach who was fifth last year and this year...in the third tier of mexico he finished in the bottom half of his group...his record in malaysia looks amazing but JDT has won the league the last ten years...he started as coach of JDT II then they gave him a shot with the first team in 2017 but sent him back to the second team after getting knocked out in a few competitions...took over again late 2020 and won one league and two charity shields before resigning mid 2022 for personal reasons...then took over atlas did the clausura with them where they finished 9th out of 18 which was better than their apertura ranking but they still parted ways

The promo photo being taken in the financial district is more surprising than York naming a Mexican as manager.

Once they have the stadium plan in Toronto in place, a rebrand as Toronto will be the next step

Futbol Americas talks to Mora. He has watched a lot of CPL matches already. He like what he has seen. Missing is players don't have enough experience playing in a pro environment.

he was with the united football academy last year which was the partner academy of york united...also signed a dev contract with york...then went on trial with genoa...looks like united football academy now has some sort of partnership with genoa in italy bolton of england racing madrid of spain (which is owned by canadians including russell peters) and prostars of l1o...took a little shot at york with the announcement of jimoh...looks like they are still bitter about the partnership ending

Definitely not a little shot.

I think under new management in York these kids of things won’t happen often, I get the sense they know what they’re doing and will identify talent quicker. Another ex TFC kid though…. Their hold is going to keep eroding

...or maybe they didn't rate him? I know people on this particular subsection will want to talk up the CanPL pathway as the be all and end all but if a young player doesn't get regular playing time (and how likely is that exactly at 16 years old?) they are effectively an L1O player at that point in all but name with nothing to fall back on in terms of a pro youth or reserve team setup after August. In contrast, TFC II is geared towards player development at a significantly higher standard than that and the players they rate will get plenty of playing time and coaching from people hired to bring the young players through rather than focusing on the next first team game. There are pros and cons with both pathways.

Based on their history of academy player development I would not accuse TFC of this

I haven't been watching the pre-games, so maybe it's been mentioned there, but where is Mo Babouli? Is he hurt? Do we know what the injury is and how long he'll be out? Or is there some other news I missed? I tried googling the news, but all the news I found is very old.

I can't remember the last time I saw him if he left with an injury or a suspension or something. Feels like he has missed several games now.

I think he just won't play in any pride games. Happened last year too.
