CNL FINAL: Canada vs USA - Sunday, June 18th - 8:30 pm ET/5:30 pm PT - Las Vegas

Recommended Posts

Definitely a frustrating night, but I think we all need to take a breath and zoom out. This is all part of the process. We used to not even sniff these kind of games and were getting smoked by the Honduras's, Panama's, and hell - Haiti's of the region prior to meeting the big dogs of USA/MEX consistently until just a few years ago. Does it sting to lose soundly in the Final? Sure. But these are the kind of games that we can build on and continue to improve.

What this game clearly shows is that we need more games against top tier opposition. The days of destroying minnows should be behind us, and we need to focus on playing as many friendlies as we can against top opposition to get reps playing against teams of the USA's quality.

With a bit of roster turnover, we can bring some fresh young talent on board and continue to build. Let's not get too down or beat up on the boys tonight. Onwards and upwards.

Kone had a great game, the Kone-Eustaquio chemistry looking great for the future, even if Eustaquio didn't have his best game

Stinker from Kennedy, should never have started, Vitoria was so stable once he came in

Davies, David, Larin all had rough nights

Johnston and Laryea were both solid

US took advantage of us when we were sloppy. We had our opportunities but totally wasted them - Larin on the rebound, David passing instead of shooting etc...

Also holy shit is Balogun gonna be a problem moving forward

But most importantly, we really need to learn how to break down teams that sit back and let us attack. We have no clue how to break down a low block

Oh well, bring on the "B team" for the Gold Cup

KJ is coming for everyone. All points are spot on.

Are they, though?

"We can't keep the ball". We kept the ball.

"Johnston wasn't good but that's not why we lost."

Eustaquio wasn't good either. How many bad individual performances = bad team performance?

Kennedy and Osorio were not up to this level tonight either.

US was giving us possession. We still lost the ball every time we tried to attack.
