FAST Channels - FIFA+ (Samsung TV Plus CA) DAZN (Pluto TV/LG CA)

Sevilla vs Valencia is on now, live (Pluto DAZN) so there will be live games above the level we might think.

Anyone out there now in Germany, are you able to check this out.

DAZN now has a dedicated Canadian FAST channel on LG TV. I am not sure what broadcasts make up the schedule as I don't have a guide, but today I was able to watch PNE vs QPR live and later there were some two day old CL games on.  Right now there is a two month old UEL game ending and starting is UCL Napoli vs Real Madrid.

So if your TV has WebOS, you should be able to access the DAZN Canada FAST channel, free and legal on LG TV.

While I'm here, for those who might not be aware, Pluto, Plex and Tubi are all available in Canada on the web (free and legal) as an easy way of access.

Was just watching DAZN Canada and there was a story about body cams.

I was preoccupied with something else and only half watching but they outfitted a few of the girls for a women's practice (in England?) with a skin tight vest that had a round port hole like camera (about three inches wide) in the middle of it.

It provided an excellent mid-wide view that wasn't jittery and while juggling and passing the ball they tried chesting it to no detriment to the view or camera.

I can definitely see this becoming part of a pro broadcast.

  • Joe MacCarthy changed the title to FAST Channels - Golazo! (Pluto TV US) FIFA+ (Samsung TV Plus CA) DAZN (LG CA)

As I posted in another thread, Golazo has been DRMed (simply put, a stronger form of geoblocking)  This came just in time for the transfer of Tajon Buchanan to Serie A which of course is carried by Golazo.

Also LaLiga+ seems to have gone the same route.

That leaves us with:
FIFA+ on Samsung TV Plus Canada
DAZN Canada on Pluto TV Canada and LG TV
BeIN Sports Xtra Canada on Pluto TV Canada and Samsung TV Plus Canada
Realmadrid TV on Tubi TV Canada

No problem, but the reason for the thread being for free and legal is not only the big crackdown on illegal IPTV operations these days but free and legal for the most part sticks around and doesn't disappear suddenly.

That may sound contradictory to what I just posted about Golazo and LaLiga+ but they are free and legal to their areas.  I now know that (as a hard core cord cutter) I can pull together enough channels that are exclusively for Canada to have a fairly decent selection of channels even if some of the international channels (once open) now get blocked.

It's somewhat similar to the open source movement.  You can get software for "free" that isn't legal and you can get legally free software but that doesn't help build the open source movement and I'd like to see the FAST channel universe grow (which it is)

Even the FAST channels come at a price, (the time you have a for a commercial) but that's a first world problem.  People will always want to spend money but I want the choice of not having to, hence this thread and the Open Source "Free" Software thread and the Free and Legal Cord Cutting thread

Some latest news.  LocalNow now carries Golazo!  I realize those with cable/satellite can access this channel or watch CBS but for those of us who are hard core cable cutters (no paid services) this is now available.

As Golazo! carries many Serie A games live (often Inter) and later rebroadcasts them we can now see these games on LocalNow.  This post explains how.

Here's a tip, activate the gimmick before navigating to the LocalNow webpage or refresh the page once you're there.  That is for educational purposes only, I would never advocate for the  acquisition of cross border streams and the very, very light grey legal issues that would stem from that.

It would be great to have Bombito join Kone in France.

beIN Sports Xtra (Canada) carries Ligue 1 and is accessible for all of us via the web or your Smart TV

They most often seem to carry PSG games but I've have noticed OL and OM quite often.  Unfortunately Lille didn't seem to be on as often as the above but hopefully that will become a moot point before long.

Bein's Ligue 1 rights in North America and some other parts expire tomorrow. But Bein is looking to re-up at least in MENA.

Ligue 1 hasn't even finalized their domestic rights for the next season as the bids weren't high enough. It was on Amazon Prime but could move to DAZN. Or they will set up their own direct-to-customer streaming service.

love your takes on the OTA/geoblocking debate

Not sure what you mean by debate?  But it's a topic I love that's for sure.

Free (and legal) TV is great, I will admit to being a hypocrite in the rarest of situations, which when it does happen, is usually a CMNT game.  :)

I am curious to know how many antenna viewers are out there.  It is making a comeback in the US.  I'd be laughing if I was in southern Ontario, as it it I don't even have a CBC English channel.  CTV, Global and CBC French is all I got for OTA.

w/o saying it, i think u already know what im trying to get at.

im not an expert at this stuff at all, but i find it totally fascinating the conglomerates have this transnational monopoly/duoploly/oligopoly over the spread of information... except all things web-based (more or less).

a lot of the terms i get mixed up with are open source, license free, user defined, openverse, omsc, OTA... but they all speak to the same ethos: media freedom.

fwiw... im one of those rabbit ear ppl

Actually no, I don't know what you're getting at, and I am keenly interested to know.  As I get older, the old brain doesn't work as good as it used to.

I am not sure either but I suspect it’s a strange blend of Kung Fu and Confucius philosophy.

True story, I couldn't find a place to study Aikido in my old hometown, but my gf had a college friend who taught Wing Chun Kung Fu.  What the hell I'll go take a look, so we both went to one of his sessions.

I had met him several times and he seemed like a cool dude but as he was instructing he would start using a bad Chinese accent and said stuff like "You no fi him ova thaya, you fi him ova heya"  And he and everybody else in the room was white as me.

I said to the gf "That's too f'ed even for me"  :)

I'm glad I didn't bring one of my best friends from childhood.  He WAS Chinese.

Not to drag this thread any more off topic (but to give some credence to the quote) the Florida Panthers will now be broadcasting all their games OTA (Over the air)

I will redirect anyone interested in hard core cord cutting to the The Free and Legal Cord Cutting Thread

Fifa+ also avaiblabe on Plex.

I've noticed some of these channels on free streaming services but it seems to play old recorded matches...not live stuff.

Mostly true, but there are live games as well.  beIn Sports Xtra for instance often has live games, Golazo! as well depending on where you live (for accessibility)

im not as deep as either of you think i am.  low hanging fruit fills my belly quite fine.

what i was talking about is the struggle between the conglomerates trying to protect their intellectual property vs the little guys trying to access information.

tough battle when dollars are involved.

pleasantly surprised ctv just put the fox broadcast of ARG-ECU live on their main network

I'm not quite sure specifically what you mean, but I have a better idea of where you are.

Some of the stuff is just ridiculous. Things like still wanting to monetize 60-70 year old properties.  Geoblocking "free" (ad subsidized) content, such as offering a property for free in the US but I can't get access to it here (without some shenanigans)  Negotiating rights fees for areas, I get it, but it's usually not new content.

I can't access CTV and Global streams without paying for a service but I can get them OTA (crazy)

In the US they unveil ATSC 3.0 OTA technology that can bring 4k and Internet to your home.  And then they DRM network channels you used to get for free.

I would love to write a mini book on what I do to help others but I'd probably get charged for illegally accessing free content.
