The thing is a journalist asked Messi on Argentina TV about that tackle and Messi trash talked Canada's last man for that horrible thing.

Idiots are like ants .

Again the last back should be the calmer player tbh

Have you ever seen Paul McGrath or Baresi rushed in ?  No they were assured players and Paul had his knees in pain

The little dictator knows what he's doing sending his army of racist fans to insult a young professional just trying to make a play for his country in the biggest game of his career .

No , Papucho.  Bombitó se fue al carajo mal, por boludo!

The last man should be the calmer and the most composed on the ball , 2 things that Bombitó isn't

In my eyes he is a right back maybe a left back if practiced and a defensive midfielder, but NEVER the last man !

He is an horrendous sweeper/ libero

Funny that Argentina is apparently this country that preaches winning at all costs as a national religion, this thing about “streetball” and playing between the margins, but when our defender drops a “bad” (but beautiful) tackle on the greatest of all time, suddenly they’re offended someone would dare play outside the lines? Give me a break.

Argentina isn’t pissed that Bombito is dirty, they’re pissed that Canada actually tried to be competitive. They were expecting us to be the Washington Generals- token opposition serving as a backdrop to allow Messi to do his thing and generate social media narratives. That we came to get a result and we didn’t care who their players were is deeply offensive to them.

Como se dice “Argentina is the Boston Celtics of football- they always win but are always the victim”

Trying to be honest, he has more of a point with this one. But the language he used didn't help.

Celebrity can be a heck of a drug.

Totally agree.  I don't support racist comments,  Bombito is a good player but he relays too much in his speed and athletics.  THIS ISNT CONNOR MCGREGOR sport, he could have ended Messi's Carrer it was a bad timing tackle.  But as I said before , HE CAN'T PLAY LAST MAN, not yet!! He is too nervous too insecure !!

Thanks GOD of FOOTBALL, they didn't allow this to hurt Lionel.  His knee cap moved awkwardly because Bombito Scissored his ankle to trip him ,

It was a clear RED , but worst for him because he has demonstrated he is a bit of a bad person,  you can't cover your mistake by trying to injure a fellow footballer,  with purpose or NOT ,  that was a nasty tackle the ones that Maradona abd Gullit received week in and out in the 80's and 90's

No , I have to clarify. I condemn racism I'm a Peronist a justilicialist so it is against of our philosophy as a political party.  We peronists defend all and we cherish all people.

What Bombito did was atrocious.  He tried to cover up his BIG mistake,( because he had another Vs DiMaria in first half after 7 minutes,) by going two towns late in a challenge on the floor.  That in my dictionary is bad person.  Football shows you the way you are in life too!

We aren't saints we also kick. And the Giovanni Lo Celso kick on Davies was an eye to eye response.  Ir was a red too!!

Romero is a bully.  And De Paul is s bit arrogant you can tell .  And Kun Agüero Is a shallow declassé person too!

No, I am specifically talking about their complaints (whiny babies), not their racism (scumbags) which is a completely separate topic.

it wasn’t atrocious. It was between the lines. It’s what you do to make the stop you have to. I don’t know what end of season football looks like in Argentina, but in Canada we have what is called “playoff hockey”. If Connor McDavid can get a stick across the neck every other play and the refs make him play on, the comparatively pedestrian Messi can handle a little love tap to the shin in an extremely important game for Canada.

You say you are a Peronist but much like Bombito’s newfound social media following, you too attack his personality!

He is a boy from St. Laurent and Ahuntsic. Perhaps the rich Argentinians are not familiar with how the beautiful game is played in areas where people have less.

Excuse the partisan hosting

Just trying to be a tiny bit impartial -  this is the best video I found.

- Bombito does leave his feet, which throws a lot of your control out the window.  I have seen those given as yellow or worse.

- However, he is back on the ground and touched the ball, though that does not excuse everything, especially these days.

- Messi bravely? knows he's second to that ball and does nothing to pull up or hurdle.  He is a very quick thinker so we would believe he could have at least tried. He is still going for the ball after it comes off Bombito's foot.

- Messi is the most fouled player pretty much wherever he goes.  Is he willing to take these to chase balls and/or draw fouls.

Didn't sound that impartial in the end.

Hard tackle.  Bombito dodged a bullet on that one but he didn't exactly get away with murder.  Not even close.  And apparently the learned eyes in the VAR booth agree with me.

Messi was sooo playing that for the call.  Textbook Messi, but he's willing to pay the price, bless his soul.   He's 37 years young and still has the mettle.

Did you know Tévez broke two players legs once he came back to Argentina?   Tévez Is a real bad person a resentful bitter person

I don’t think you do know street ball- you are taking Bombito’s play personally. I know a little bit of success can change a nation, but Maradona is probably rolling over in his grave over how many tears have been shed over a hard tackle.  Dans nos cartiers you get up, brush yourself off and continue to play. None of this social media whining garbage.

Like I said, “Los Boston Celticos”

I agree about the Diego thing he would continue.  I sanction those who abused Bombito.

But I do believe football tells you how people is in real life,  ...you find the bullies, the arrogants, thé resentfuls, the lazy ones , the envious, the jealous the scoundrels and the generous and supportive too.

Football undresses footballers and shows them how they are in their daily life as ordinary persons.

For professional players and for amateurs too this rule applies.

Football shows you how you are for good and bad

My friend, you have just described the Argentinian team and their lovely supporters. Arrogant bullies who run to social media at the slightest offense. Bad look!

Those I'm sure are Milei and the far right voters.  As for the players only a few arent déclassé.  Messi is one who supported the Madres of Disappeared with Otamendi and Di Maria , maybe Lo Celso since he Is from Rosario most people from Rosario since is a big academic city with Universities is either Peronist or social democrats

And so is Bombito. You should listen to his recent interviews in both French and English. He is an intelligent, thoughtful young man and a supremely talented player.

In fact, I think this Canada team is probably the “best” sports team I’ve ever followed in terms of player character. Don’t think I can think of a single negative story about any of our guys. I know Larin got into some trouble in Orlando, but he seems to have grown and matured since. We’ve got an excellent group of guys wearing our shirt.

Ok I believe and maybe I'm wrong and this kid will learn from this sliding tackle ,  he shouldn't because he could have dispossessed Messi by going alongside him and overrun  him,  as Alex Ferguson used to say to his center backs " don't go to the pitch floor unless you are 100 assured"

I'm still I'm not convinced his position should be right back or left back ,  he got exposée

90% passing rate, 3/3 on tackles, 4/5 ground duels won, committed zero fouls. That is not the stat line of a player who was exposed, and the eye test shows a player who took his biggest challenge yet and showed he was more than capable to seize the occasion.

You don’t have to like his play- many Argentina fans are upset that he didn’t play his role in being a peon that allows Messi to run up his highlight reel, but nothing from his game last night told me he isn’t a good centre back who can’t become a great one. There is more to fullbacks then just making your fastest player play there. He is young, he is developing rapidly, and I suggest you watch more of his games, as he’s been universally applauded by coaches, pundits, players, and the typical transfer rumour mill.
