But I have no idea if many people outside of South America pay much attention to the Copa America. The timing will make it hard for European, African, and Asian fans of Messi to watch the game live. Obinna
TM values for Copa America teams: Canada is literally middle of the pack, sitting in 8th with a roster value of 181M, and an average player value of 6.96M. Chile and Peru are 11th and 13th respectively. Argentina are clear no. 2, behind Brazil. We know this paper talk means little, as it inflates player ratings for potential, meaning that veteran player ratings are understated, but even still it's an interesting look at the field of teams we are about to compete against. 74 Whitecap, costarg, Kusch to the Corner and 5 others 4

Kadenge
Our values are probably skewed by 2 players, Davies & David. Interesting looking at the average age of squads. Surprised the US is still a tad younger than ours. There was another graphic that indicated we were the 2nd tallest squad...yet we are not dominant in the air on both sides of the ball. Perhaps that changes now with Bombito & Cornelius PegCityCam, GasPed, TGAA_Star and 4 others

Transfermarket value can of course lie but if we use it with an eye test of talent I think we should be disappointed not advancing. (I assume that's what you mean and not staging a protest and leaving it). Seemingly their top level players based on people I have seen or have seen the level they are playing at. (Argentina aside of course) (Just for fun, please add or correct) Peru Pedro Gallese - MLS lock keeper Marcos López - LB - spotty minutes for a dominant Feynord side Miguel Araujo - Aside from the first of the year, starting MLS Centreback for Portland, replaced McGraw and played with Miller and then stay in centre when the latter moved to LB. A generally poor defense. Alexander Callens - CB Greek League general starter Luis Abram - MLS starting Centreback Oliver Sonne - starting RB for Silkeborg in Norway, played in one Conference League game against West Ham. Don't remember him being at fault for any of the goals but we put three past them at their place. Wilder Cartagena - DM - Very good MLS minutes with Orlando especially recently Sergio Peña - Midfielder - Cornelius' teammate at Malmo in Sweden, generally a starter Piero Quispe - AMC - LigaMX, sometimes starter, 1 assist on the year Gianluca Lapadula - Centre-Forward at Cagliari, injured and then okay minutes in Serie A, 2 goals. Chile Keeper - Claudio Bravo not longer starts, it is a younger player from their national league. Gabriel Suazo - LB - Good minutes with majority of starts for Toulouse in Ligue1 Guillermo Maripán - CB - Some injuries but aside for that an almost locked-in starter for Monaco Paulo Díaz - Starting CB for River Plate Igor Lichnovsky - Mosly starting CB for Club America in LigaMX Mauricio Isla - RB - Back starting in the squad for this year's friendlies, playing with Independiente in Argentina, 36 Erick Pulgar - DM - Good minutes before the internationals playing with Flamengo in Brazil Marcelino Núñez - Midfielder - Mostly starts for Championship N'arch this year. 36 league appearances - 2 goal and 3 assists. Diego Valdés - AMC - Lots of good appearances for Club America - 6 goals 2 assists. Ben Brereton Díaz - Winger/Striker - Can be very dangerous, 6 goals in a half season with Sheffield United in the Premier League. Alexis Sánchez - Forward - 4 goals and 5 assists in mostly sub minutes in Serie A and the Champions League. Fill yer boots. The man is also on loan from surprise La Liga package and UCL qualified Girona. He's also a NYCFC vet. That's all for Peru. For Chile....another player worth mentioning Dario Osorio. Super young but very talented. Balled out in the Danish league with Midtjylland, scoring 8 goals in his first season in Europe. Also scored against France back in a 3-2 away loss back in March. dyslexic nam
Lets be honest, there are lots of guys who need to do better. Our whole attack has been a bit low-key recently and while the recent opponents were world class, we didn't threaten them much offensively over 180 minutes aside from Larin's scuffed chance in the box and Liam's almost-golazo. Given our offensive firepower, we need those guys to generate more quality chances than that. And that applied to all of David, Larin, Davies and Buchanan. It was only Herdman who let the players determine it on the field depending on who was "feeling it". Good coaching will involve making sure the players know what is expected re PKs, free kicks, corners, etc. Eliminating those sorts of on-field decisions means that Davies' role as captain will be limited to interacting with the ref and leading by example. red card
As per TheyScored, the Prem (also tops Euros) & MLS are tied for most players at Copa America. 41 - Premier League 41 - MLS 35 - Liga MX 35 - Serie A (Brazil) 28 - La Liga 23 - Serie A (Italy) 20 - Primera División (Bolivia) 16 - Primera División (Argentina) 16 - Liga FPD (Costa Rica) 13 - EFL Championship 13 - Primeira Liga (Portugal) By club, it is more of the clubs in tier 2 or lower leagues making their presence. Top Canadian club is CFM with 4. CFM is also tied with Minnesota as top MLS club. 9 - Bolívar 7 - Deportivo Saprissa 7 - Club América 5 - Herediano 5 - Fulham 5 - Libertad (Paraguay) 5 - FC Porto 5 - Flamengo 5 - Always Ready (Bolivia) 5 - Universitario (Peru) Edited June 18 by red card GasPed, WestHamCanadianinOxford, Canuckia and 3 others 2

It also helps having these roles set, as, even if it fails, it falls on the coach to take the blame and make adjustments/changes. It doesn't become a potential point of conflict between teammates. You have to know there was likely some lingering resentment on Davies taking that PK. The whole "feeling it" thing is a pretty big coach cop out.
