He hid away from the board like a coward for months when his ridiculous anti-Herdman crusade became too ridiculous even for him to sustain. Now he's back acting like an idiot once more. I suspect that he truly needs professional help for some deep-seated issues, but he gets a bit sensitive if you suggest it publicly. Best to just ignore him. narduch
An interesting thing about the roster drop is that Herdman surprisingly did not do his usual press conference to go along with it. I am guessing they want to dodge the Iran question. RS, Corazon, Cheeta and 1 other

SoCalTransport
This is exactly what I was saying earlier…The CSA should have just paid the money and played Argentina. There was a reason no one wanted to play Iran. Now we look incompetent again on the world stage. narduch, johnyb, Mattd97 and 3 others 5

At worst the Government looks bad for letting it go through in the first place. The CSA looks like they are respecting the wishes of the government and a large segment of the population of Canada. If anything, it simply reinforces Canada's position in the world as an opponent of repressive and murderous regimes.

LOL Brazil and Argentina charge upwards of $4 million USD plus expenses for fees. Far too dear as we don't have a stadium large enough to accommodate a game that would even permit us to break even, let alone profit. Given CSA's current size, not a smart economic move. Maybe we can consider big soccer powers as we approach 2026 and get bigger in size assuming funding and sponsorship continue. The reported estimated $200k fee + $200k expenses for Iran is by far the cheapest I've heard and relatively cheap given CSA's size. Makes sense given how many host countries ultimately cancel. The important question is ... what result in Qatar would be necessary for CSA to start commanding its own appearance fees? BC place could easily turn a profit, but Argentina likely wouldn't want to play on turf. BMO half the size would have to average 175 to 200 per ticket to cover expenses. 87.50 to 100 dollars per ticket in BC place is much easier task. We're going to lose a million+ off this cancelled game so in hindsight bringing in Argentina and breaking even or losing money would have been the better choice!
