Only hint was that many of his closer friends also had Canadian flags in their bios. From his age, my guess is he spent time in school in Canada before moving to Milan for football. The official Italian sounds like a northern accent to us southerns. (I'm assuming your roots are from the south since most paisans in Canada are from the south.) Listening to his Italian, I was sure he was born there or moved at a very young age. Curious about the Canadian connection.
