EGY advancing on PSO works.

It's up for debate, but from the fifa rules, my interpretation is that an Egypt win in PSO will earn full points for the win. Therefore, whoever wins the PSO will be in Pot 3.

The only way we surpass SEN/EGY is if both sides score in the next 10mins.

If all else fails, I have faith in Mavinga and DR congo

No, PSO is in the rules. It's AET that's unclear.

Note: In some instances, games end with a winner after regular or extended time, but still include a PSO to determine the team that eventually will get to the next round. These games are treated as normal wins and defeats.

But the document on FIFA.com says: "In some instances, games end with a winner after regular or extended time, but still include a PSO to determine the team that eventually will get to the next round. These games are treated as normal wins and defeats."

Seems pretty clear that EGY advancing on PSO = game counts as loss of EGY, no? How are you reading this thing?

Yeah, that's the paragraph. But when they say normal wins, do they mean the team that won after AET or the PSO?

Agreed.  The potential PSO has no impact on the ranking points.

This is the right interpretation. It wouldn't make sense to count in one case and not the other; we're still talking about a loss on the day but advancement in the tie.

So the provisions for a smaller point gain/loss after a PSO are only for a single game, such as a knockout round?
