It's debatable whether a tie or a Costa Rica win is better for us in the long run, but a Panama win is the worst. So now with the goal that is the least likely option which is good

WE are better off with a CRC win.  puts distance between us and Pan and we play Pan away in the final game

Depends on the view of whether one believes Costa Rica could make a run at the end. Mexico's been shaky and Costa Rica faces them next. Costa Rica beats Mexico and then suddenly Costa Rica is a huge threat if we drop some games. Us winning today does mitigate that a bit though

If this results hold, both Costa Rica and Panama probably need results against Mexico to get in the mix. But if they do that, then Mexico is in trouble. Which is also fine by me.

using a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush logic, CRC hanging on against Panama is clearly a fantastic result for Canada.  But both teams will be fighting like hell to stay relevant the rest of the way...

I've only watched the 2nd half but Panama have looked so much better than CR. If they lose they're going to be crushed.
