The 1st place teams would face each other in the 2nd round of the knock out stage?
narduch
Trying to analyze this draw. In my opinion it is favourable for us. We have a really good chance of making the U-20 World Cup. You only need to finish top 3 in your group of 4 to advance. And if the tournament format mirrors the one used in the Women U-20 we will only be battling Teams from Group E & G (plus those 2 play in teams) up to and including the Semi-Finals. The best result for us in the Group stage would be Canada and USA finishing 1 & 2. The order doesn't really matter. Kadenge
Crazy that we can even compete currently with the US given their budget. Just goes to show the talent we have in Canada but we will need to invest heavily in future years if we want to keep up. The US is churning out young talent like a conveyer belt Shway

Quality is more important than quantity. In hockey Sweden and Finland compete with Canada for championships but Canada turns out 4-5 times the number of young players that they do. At the youth level we haven't been in a U20 WC since we hosted it. And generally we underperform at youth level until recently. Footyeh

Generally, the more blue chip youth players you churn out increases the probability that a few will develop into top end players. We have some elite forwards in Davies & David and Larin is red hot. Plus Tajon potting a few. That has been the difference for us. We probably have the best forwards in Concacaf. Can we sustain that going forward? Not without investing in our youth programs. Sorry can't speak to our hockey teams Shway

True but our youth programs have been poorly organized...from player selections, poor coaching, lack of camps and prep etc. I am hoping that Herdman has set up a blueprint for Olivieri and his staff to follow and that John has input on player selections as well. Week and a half til it starts, senior roster should be dropping next week too shouldn't it? 17th is the week before the Costa Rica game, probably a good time to drop both rosters. narduch

toontownman
Interesting, wonder if it was moved back or original dates reported were wrong. Good it doesn't clash with the CMNT but also not a fifa window for bringing in European players. Hope that Herdman and staff can be there in this case. Arsenal u23s don't play during that period though.. 👀 well almost, they do on the 22nd.
