I don’t know man, the other Mitrovic came up through red star, while the Canadian one came up through various Canadian teams. Think it’s still too early to tell. Will wait until after the World Cup to release my official power rankings of Stefan Mitrovii

If Galindo is describing how players are called up in general, all over the world, fine. I hope he does not think the scenario for Stefan was at all unusual.

As for a similar talk with Koleosho, not. He has not been cap tied so there is nothing requiring him to consider a switch. So that was not on the table.

Now, if a player says they'd prefer not be put into a situation that might oblige them longer term, that is alright. But Stefan was already bound, Luca was not.

Bit much all this Serbian hoarding of Stefan Mitrovic's. We only asked for one. Maybe they are thinking third times the charm?

If we get top two in the U20s this month and qualify for the Olympics, there is no big reason for him not to switch

I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure if you play in qualifying for a given tournament (ex: 2023 U-20 World Cup) you can't play for a different team for that same tournament. So if he plays qualifying for Serbia, I don't think he can play in the U-20 World Cup for us (if he was young enough he could play in the 2025 edition though).

I don't remember why this came up, but I feel like I learned this rule 5 to 15 years ago or so. Maybe it's changed, but I would be surprised. It's basically being cup-tied (rather than cap-tied).

1) He is too old for the U20s

2) The Olympics is its own thing. The ages do not line up with UEFA U21 matches anyways.

It's not like the U17 or U20 World Cup.

Ah, somehow I didn't register that you said Olympics. My bad.

Ivan now fully public on his stance lol

He has a point. Playing in Serbia allowed Stef to meet with the Serbian FA numerous times. He's also treated very well in Nis, and i'll assume that he's making a decent amount of money with their youth team.

If you guys don't think this is a real issue, then you don't have kids or have  friends who have kids that are playing the game at competitive levels right now. Specifically in Ontario, as that is what I can speak on.

5K not including travel expenses for youth soccer is crazy.
