Not called into the u20 team for the CONCACAF Championship, but did get called into the 5 man pre-camp. 6'3'' midfielder who is currently a freshman at Notre Dame for the 2018/19 season. From the ND website:

Taken from Northern Tribune's Article:

Notre Dame Captain Mohamed Omar is a highly-touted figure in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, with many expecting him to go as a highly-coveted first round pick.

An efficient deep-lying distributor, the six foot three midfielder has proven quite capable of breaking up play in the middle of the pitch and dictating tempo.  While he's helped to organize Notre Dame transitions of play quite well, he's got some great goals in his wheelhouse, too.

With a solid sense for tackling and good physicality, he’s the kind of player who certainly has a ceiling big enough for the next level. Omar states that his current focus is all-in on Major League Soccer, and that he hasn’t given too much though to the CPL at the present. With Omar coming in as a highly-touted first round pick, it should come as no surprise that his ambitions lie with MLS.

Talk in the Superdraft build up and during the show he could well end up playing CB down the line. Concerns on his pace but they mentioned the word Destroyer about 10 times and likened him most to MAK in terms of being a two way player.

Also as posted in the MLS thread, picture too good not to share again.744546141_ScreenShot2022-01-11at4_42_20PM.png.07d0807d6f4cf07ba8cf342b4a76f982.png

Short video of the moment he was drafted:

You can find some highlight videos with Notre Dame on Youtube quite easily.  He looks like a player that gets stuck in and not afraid to tackle.  Looks great at disrupting and breaking up play.  Looks strong at heading and on attacking set pieces.  He can ping a ball and distribute well at the collegiate level as well.

As someone else mentioned, he is a little bit slower but seems like an intelligent footballer where he can mitigate this.  He is a lefty and that does show as well in the short videos.

They were talking in the superdraft about a moment in Notre Dame's season where Omar and one other player stood up and had a dressing room moment, taking leadership which helped turn their season around. He was injured in the first half of the season and the team had a poor run. They were praising his leadership ability and that while he isn't a huge attacking threat he can score goals. He seems like a real character.

Will say the NT needs more destroyers in the program. Piette is the only true one at the moment, Eustaquio is as well but I find him to be a more hybrid 8/6.

Justin Smith is the only other one that comes to mind and we still don't fully know whether he'll be a CB or DM at pro level.

Omar is an interesting one. There also seems to be some intangibles in his character that will carry him far.

To be fair, I could have been a part of that 4x100 m relay team with Shaffelburg and Achara and we'd probably still.

If you're interested, search his highlight videos on Youtube and you'll notice that he does not look to be very pacey.  However, he does seem to have a very good knack at getting his foot on the ball at times it doesn't look possible.

His long strides could make him appear slow, but he actually seems deceptively quick and fast.

It is interesting that the scouting reports on him also claim he lacks a speed though.

But, I know exactly what you're talking about.  Big, long players can appear much slower than they actually are.  I think Okello sometimes looks this way as well.

Omar is quite the athletes. He played at Berkshire Academy in high school and two of his team mates are current TFC players Jacob Shaffleburg and Achara. At the New England Track and Field Championships they were 3/4s of the 4x100 replay team that won the title. Looking forward to seeing how he does in MLS.

Shaffleberg looks like that super keen intern in your office where the other 3 dudes are all in casual clothes
