There have been people that have been here for a long time that always believed something like this would eventually happen. We just needed a few lucky breaks. Yeah but those people were delusional. Even five years ago, who among us thought this would be possible? 17 hours ago, frmr said: Literally no one. Davies debuted for Vancouver almost 7 years ago (June, 2016), and was the youngest active player in MLS at the time. By 2017, he was a regular starter in MLS at age 16, and scored twice in his international debut. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but we could tell pretty quickly that he was special, and his ceiling was very high. It wasn’t a slam dunk that he would become everything he became, but it’s also a bit revisionist to say no one saw it coming.

My comment was tongue in cheek, I don't actually believe that literally not a single human thought we would produce a world-class player.

Shway
Nothing new here…we’ve seen this before. Hopefully Naglesman puts some respect on his name and doesn’t ever try to play cancelo over him. dyslexic nam
Even the commentators recognizes that Motang had an easy job given the quality and precision of the pass. But then gives the ball away trying to do too much - and it turns into an opportunity for Gladbach. I wish he had a few more jinky moves in his bag of tricks. Gian-Luca
Bayern’s last three goals assisted by Davies. Valladolid’s last three goals scored by Larin. I am sensing a pattern. Ivan, Jack1997, king1010 and 5 others

VinceA
Now the hope is that Davies will keep it simple for Canada, rather than taking over the ball, doing his hero stuff and effectively nerfing David and Larin's impact because Davies goes into their spaces trying to beat all 11 players on the team and their bench guys too. longlugan, Corazon, NVsoccer and 2 others

PegCityCam
I'd agree there's probably some level of "iron sharpens iron" in Davies situation.
