Ishmael Kone CAN / CS Saint-Laurent/Watford

Kone was in the 60 man list!?!?! I didn't remember that, and it's pretty shocking since he didn't have a pro contract yet. Well done to Herdman or whoever tipped him off to pick Kone.

Obviously he wasn't, as I said in the post (with some minor inclusions and deletion changes).  The 60 man list was used as a starting point.  Borjan and Adekugbe were unavailable and not on the list and I included them.  I included Kone to show where he had come from in a year and a half as he has been one of the higher profile new players.

Right, I had forgotten about the inclusions you had mentioned by the time I got down to Kone's name. Thanks for the clarification!

MLS is Back!

I've included all potential dual nationals such as Camacho & Ferkranus and I've only included players listed on opening day rosters.  If I am missing anyone, please let me know.

Not a great start for the three Canadian MLS clubs but we saw a few MLS debuts across the league on opening weekend that included Hiebert, Saliba & Oluwaseyi.

Anyone else under the impression he's walking away with his pockets and trunk full of cash scott free with a smile on his face?

Doubt it. The players are walking away with the cash. He is likely leaving to facilitate a deal and turn a new leaf so the association can move forward. Like him or not. He was committed to the game.  And wore his emotions on his sleeve.

It’s funny how our perceptions can cloud things.   Was just looking up a couple of players and had a realization.

I tend to think of Eustaquio as a still fairly young guy who will be with us for years to come.  I have already penciled him into our 2026 starting line up and think he could even be around for 2030.  Conversely I think of Larin as a guy who is in the latter stage of his career and who, despite his recent turnaround in Spain, may or may not be a prominent part of our 2026 team depending on how others develop.

In reality, Staq is 26 and Larin is 27*.

————

*this is a bit misleading considering Staq turned 26 in December and Larin will be 28 next month, but it does show how easy it is to interpret things a bit irrationally.

And Piette, who many see as being in the twilight of his CMNT career is only 28...

Apologies if this isn’t appropriate but just posting a friendly reminder about the Vancouver CCL game tonight on OS/Fubo.  I don’t think the CCL section of the forum gets the same amount of traffic so figured a reminder might help a few folks out.   Game is on at 7 EST and is the second leg.

6pm ET
