Somebody was claiming on here at one point that he sold a company for something like $300 million and has the wealth to run a pro level soccer team and the only thing holding him back from doing that has been the moratarium.

He's worked running sports agencies so I'd find it hard to believe it was 300 million since he's never had huge huge clients, maybe 30 million. If he is worth 1/3 of a billion then great.

Just one thing. I don't see Radio-Canada being involved in it. They've never done sports since they lost La Soriée du Hockey aside from Olympic sports except for the time they had Impact games and they were always on Saturday at 2 PM. You won'T get any night games with them. (Yes I know they showed an away game in Carolina that was delayed due to thunderstorms super late, but that's the exception, not the rule)

TVA won't show any sports on their local TV. They have a daily 30 minutes show about the city's sports (haven't watch the show though because it's not my city), but it's at around 2 PM, so not an a timeslot that would give the team some coverage.

The thing is that RDS and TVA Sports have 4 channels between them that if there's a place you want to be in on TV. (I didn't count RDS Info, becase they only show events if there's a time conflict) Both of those networks have a journalist who works with them out of the city mostly to cover the Rouge et Or and the Remparts and sometimes the Capitales.  I do think that it would be hard sell unless they're taking it from another TV feed.  TVA Sports pretty much fired the crew doing Impact games and got a subcontractor to do the games. RDS doesn't bring a crew for a lot of events. I do think that if a contract is done on the English side, a deal with a French side can be easily done. And if it happens, they would probably get more viewers. Look at the MLS all-star game. There wasn't a big difference between the viewership on TVA Sports and TSN.

Speaking of TVA, when Garber was in Mtl  about a month ago, he was interviewed on the Impact this week show(French) and during the interview he mentioned the new Cdn league twice but the French translation at the bottom of the screen was not mentioned at all. Nice.

Radio-Canada.ca has pretty constant articles of decent quality. I wouldn't be surprised to see some nice CPL articles in the future.

Are the Brazzers and Pornhub guys soccer fans??   They would bring marketing and promotion to a new level if involved in a team. Its not that far fetched, I didnt believe it was the milk guy who was behind the Montreal team either when I first heard it.

Investment wise maybe but the league won't accept them as advertising (sadly)

Paulie B: Alright guys, I'd like to introduce our new media partner who will be helping us with the streaming....PornHub

All the Owners: Hello PornHub guy and lady

PornHub Guy: Hey what's up everyone? I'm so excited to be a part of this. Now as part of our deal, one of you must wear the logo of a production company that has threatened to sue our site for stealing content from. Any volunteers?

*Winnipeg Guy stands*

Winnipeg Guy: I'll be the hero and wear the scandalous branding for the league!

PornHub Lady: Great, the studio is called Hardcore Facesitting

Regina Guy *stands up in a rage*: Not fair, that's what I'm into

PornHub Guy: Really? Huh, would have guessed the Halifax lady was

Halifax Lady: Why?

PornHub Lady: Our insights say so ;)

Winnipeg Guy: Well I don't wanna take something away from either Regina Guy or the great city of Halifax. Anyone else suing you?

PornHub Guy: Grooby is

Winnipeg Guy: I'll put that name on my jersey and hey it sure sounds wholesome...kind of reminds of that Kevin Smith hamburger place.

*One Year Later at the Transgender Erotica Awards*

Random Trans Porn Star:...and I would like to thank Winnipeg FC for helping trans porn reach the mainstream and become the most popular form of entertainment in the world, after CPL soccer of course.

*back at Winnipeg guy's home where he is watching the awards at home*

Winnipeg Guy: Gee I sure made the world a better place for Canadian soccer and trans porn. I really am a hero.

He is connected to the Pillers Family. Sold their shares awhile back for nearly 113 million. Still owns a stake. http://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/waterloo-s-piller-sausages-sold-to-b-c-company-1.679161

Would still think he needs more cash though. Although I believe the word is that he has someone.

So he has access to Fath-like money? (Still have no idea how much money Fath has)

$115m is a lot but it's well below the other known players so far (Bluebombers and Young). I have a good feeling they're looking for people or groups who are worth around $300m on the low end for stability. Anyone else in KW have that kind of cash on board ya think based on buzz?

I've wanted to post that but never had the balls to do it figuring I'd get roasted lol

If MLS passes on Detroit, I don't really see the issue anybody would have with them joining. One of the best fan bases in all of North America and they hate MLS. Almost 8,000 fans at a NPSL playoff game is crazy. They'd probably average 10,000 plus in CPL and would provide a stable spot for 10ish more Canadians to play pro.

"Cross-border leagues that we control"

I doubt we'd see USSF letting them join CPL though.

The USSF gave Club Tijuana the go ahead to play regular season Liga MX games in San Diego a little white back (though the FMF disallowed it) and basically allowed Chivas to put their u23 team in MLS for ten years, so it's not entirely unprecedented for the USSF to allow foreign leagues to have teams play in the US.

As long as the USSF has the same level of control over DCFC as we have over TFC I don't think there would be an issue unless Detroit gets their shit together for MLS.
