Cheeta
PoTY. Tougher one. Manny? No. Maybe. Klomp? Defenders rarely win these. Going with Callegari.
Shway
Wow....Klopp getting all this praise, so then Carducci should've won the GK award no? Edited October 26, 2023 by Shway Cheeta

Why would having the best defender in the league in front of you make you the best goalkeeper? A worse defense in front of you means you are likely going to be relied on more to keep the ball out of the net.

rkomar
I like the look of that cup. It ought to stand up to whatever debauchery and drunken shenanigans it gets subjected to. MtlMario

Thought James should've won the best defender. gator

toontownman
Damn wheeler was even more obnoxious than normal. Like the new trophy! Can't really argue with the GK and coach of the year or youth player. Nimmick was hard done by for sure. Klomp has had a hell of a year though. I didn't really have opinions on who should win what award. Almost exclusively watched York United and they weren't even up for anything.

red card
The abandoned program is the oft slagged Twenty First Group international recruiting. Gage also says that pre TFG in 2019, internationals were paid 30% more than domestics and couldn't be sold for dollars. johnyb and masster

Interesting, so the program has been abandoned but the U23 international roster requirement is still in place?
Kent
I lifted this from Facebook. Source is apparently Mark Noonan during some sort of media day. narduch, K Edgar, Cheeta and 1 other 3
red card
Noonan had some other business related items that he talked about at the presser. Opening Remarks: Final will be shown live in 35 countries. 75% of minutes have gone to Canadian players. Cavalry best example of finding the right balance of fighting for the title while actively participating in the global football economy by selling Waterman, Loturi, Zator, Pepple, Farsi & Ntignee. U21 rules will be unchanged for next season. He gave shout out to the main supporters group of each club for not just attending but bringing real football atmosphere. Details about increased national & local sponsors, merchandise sales and concessions will be published later. 19% YoY increase in attendance. Q&A: Making progress on getting OneSoccer on Bell/Rogers but government works slowly. If no local sponsors, right stadium, right owners, enough supporters and community that wants CPL, they won’t expand. Need to increase transfer value of Canadian players. More kids will come into CPL pyramid given catered rules for youth players. Not ready yet to move the best clubs from League 1s to create a D2 but being considered. Progress being made on Canada Soccer labour dispute especially on the women’s side. As seen with Canada women match in Halifax, CPL is starting to help co-market and use CPL stadiums for Canada matches. Sport grew up fast and a lot of people weren’t ready for it. Expanding media coverage is largely up to CPL to do it but need to be more creative. Work also with partners like Volkswagen to get CPL in new places. Besides cost, need Canada Soccer to train officials for VAR. https://canpl.ca/article/cpl-commissioner-mark-noonan-addresses-media-ahead-of-2023-final Kent, narduch, Metro and 10 others 7

cornerkick
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_assistant_referee#Competitions_using_VAR a lot of leagues that i wouldn't expect to see using VAR, are using VAR. CPL needs to invest the time and money to get it setup
