Obinna
Turkish move would be interesting. I think he could play there somewhat regularly, which he'll need to do to remain in the plans. johnyb

For the NT, better to see him with a new project on a mid-level Turkish team. There is also a lot of bias against him, and a lot in Canada. Even amongst the few replies to that Tweet. So why not start somewhere where fans and press are not waiting for the slightest mistake? Big_M
^ thing is hes under contract with mls...so either the turkish team would have to buy him or he would have to agree on a mutual termination with mls...now if an mls team claims him off waivers thats where hes going...guess thats what toronto is doing johnyb and Unnamed Trialist

Obinna
It would be a pretty decent move going to Turkey, but I am definitely down for a TFC return. Make it happen! johnyb
Kadenge
Doneil lives in the GTA. Perhaps he asked the club if he could train with the team to keep in shape. I agree with @Unnamed Trialist that it would be better for him to move to Turkey. Shway

This could well be the case, Hoilett has also trained with TFC in the past but has of course never ended up playing for them as yet. gigi riva

I agree with @Unnamed Trialist that it would be better for him to move to Turkey. I have no idea how the MLS rules and contracts work, however. So I don't know if the natural and easy route is to another MLS team, or if he could go on another adventure without too many impediments. MLS roster rules, salary rules, I am so proud that I know nothing about them. johnyb

InglewoodJack
TFC is probably a better spot for him than Turkey. He’s 29, so he’s not gonna suddenly develop and get a better transfer to a top league. Lots of stories about players having some difficulty getting their pay checks from Turkish teams. Plus if he lives in the GTA, he’ll have a much better time at TFC than moving to a foreign country once again. MauditYvon

Alex
He has officially signed with TFC. Toronto FC announced today the club has signed Canadian international defender Doneil Henry through 2022. He will be added to the roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) as well as the completion of a successful physical. “Doneil has good experience in the league and can provide us with some backline depth,” said Toronto FC Head Coach and Sporting Director Bob Bradley. “He obviously has strong ties to Toronto and to the club and we know he’s excited to rejoin the team.” Henry, 29, joins Toronto FC after spending the past six months with Los Angeles FC (LAFC), where he made six appearances. Before LAFC, Henry played for the Suwon Samsung Bluewings of the Korean K-League, where he appeared in 46 matches over two seasons (2020-2021). Henry spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he made 44 appearances (MLS regular season and Canadian Championship) and registered four goals. In 2015, Henry joined English Premier League club West Ham United, and later went on loan spells with Blackburn Rovers (2015/2016) of the English Championship and AC Horsens (2016) of the Danish Superliga, where he made a combined eight appearances. The Canadian started his lone first-team match for West Ham in the 2015-16 UEFA Europa League. A native of Brampton, Ontario, Henry started his career in the Toronto FC Academy and became the first Homegrown player to sign with the First Team in 2010 as a 17-year-old, making his MLS debut against D.C. United on October 24, 2010. In five seasons with the Reds (2010-2014), Henry made a combined 93 appearances, scoring five goals. During his time with TFC, Henry won three consecutive Canadian Championship titles in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Internationally, Henry has earned 44 caps with the Canadian National Team (CMNT). He has represented Canada at the U-20 and U-23 level and in 2012 he was named Player of the Year for Canada’s U-20 squad. Unnamed Trialist
TFC with one of the worst defences in MLS so far, so I hope we don't hear Henry this or Henry that, better STFU. narduch, Kadenge and NVsoccer

CanadaFan123
Nice move for everyone. Wonder if it was Toronto or Henry who suggested the one year deal. Suppose we’ll have to wait for the financials to judge. Corazon
