Dub Narcotic Posted September 12, 2014 Share Posted September 12, 2014 The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that U-23 midfielder Louis Béland-Goyette signed a professional Homegrown contract with the club. As per MLS policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed. Béland-Goyette, who turns 19 on Monday, recorded two assists in eight games in the PDL this season, totaling 556 minutes, as well as appearing in three MLS Reserve League games. Native of Pointe-Claire, Quebec, he joined the Impact Academy in September 2011, playing with the U-18, U-21 and U-23 teams. At the international level, Béland-Goyette made his debut for the Canadian U-20 national team in 2014, taking part in its preparatory camp last May for the Dale Farm Milk Cup, held in July in Ireland. He also spent time with the Canadian U-18 national team. Béland-Goyette becomes the eighth player from the Academy to sign a professional deal with the club in MLS, following defenders Karl W. Ouimette, Maxim Tissot and Wandrille Lefèvre, goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, midfielders Zakaria Messoudi and Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé, as well as forward Anthony Jackson-Hamel. Looks like there's a lot of talent in Quebec and Canada as a whole, but of course signing a contract is just the first step. Good luck Louis! Blackdude Posted September 13, 2014 Share Posted September 13, 2014 I'm wondering if it's because Montreal will be without 10 players due to injuries suspension and bereavement. + Bernier who won't start. Even Tissot's injured. Looking at the team, there's a good chance that Gagnon-Laparé plays without Felipe and Bernier. The USL team made the decision easier also. fuzzx Posted September 14, 2014 Share Posted September 14, 2014 Saw Louis play last night and I was very impressed. Solid ball control and some great passes. He's young and inexperienced, and gave up the ball unnecessarily a few times, but that's expected This guy is legit, I think he's rocketed up the depth chart and might make the rotation again this year, but definitely next season.
