Kadenge
I'm sure many of us remember how Vanney continued to go with his vets at TFC, trying to replicate the success he had with them when it was clear they were past their prime. I used to be a big fan of Cav for the same reasons as CanadaFan123 mentioned, but watching him at the GC he's lost pace and can't press like he used to. There are a few players that we need to start replacing in the squad and the sooner the better. This is not 2015. We have options. MauditYvon
David and Larin are locks, Bair (11G 4A) and Ugbo (10G 1A) are younger and in better form. I don't see Cav being part of our future. footballfreak, Kadenge, PegCityCam and 6 others

For a one off game he would 100% be my 3rd choice striker. For those games when you need a striker to come on against tired legs and get a yellow. costarg and footballfreak 1

I don't see Cav being part of our future. I don’t think that is in question. The real question is whether or not he is part of the “now”. I really don’t know how this one lands. Cav, Bair, Ugbo - you can argue for any one of them. I don’t think JRR will have time to stake a solid claim in the short term (though we will see what happens between now and summer if we make Copa) but this is probably the biggest question for me in terms of squad selection. Kadenge
My main concern is that Larin has not been scoring recently. He may be playing at the highest level of all our strikers and will start with David, but if we need a goal you need to sub on a striker that is in form and full of confidence. That's Bair or Ugbo hands down. It's not even close. If we are up and need to preserve the win we can bring on another midfielder or defender for Larin. Corazon
A new coach outside the program may offer the best solution in that they will not have any history with players or any favourites from “brotherhood”. Players will be brought in on merit. Develop a bigger brotherhood where new players are welcomed into the program. costarg, Club Linesman and MtlMario
Corazon
Scored for Puebla today. Currently losing 3-2 late in the 2nd half. Cavallini subbed out in 76th minute. Pottsy3
Had a thought during tonight’s game. While his form doesn’t justify it, I almost wish Cav was with us for the Copa and only for the sake of pride. im not sure how large some players (and fans) realized this moment would be. For players like Cav who grew up in a South American household, the Copa is only second to the World Cup. I think Osorio is the only player of South American descent in our roster for the tourney. Yeah, it would be a beautiful 6 minutes before he got a straight red. Borjans Sweatpants, canucksfan, Corazon and 6 others 1

How about Ugbo??? He should have been here, would have had Tanis minutes etc and chose not too. He must be gutted.

As stated, was not suggesting that Cav warranted selection. Moreso wishing he was in a better part of his career and got to experience a tournament that likely carries massive culture significance to him. Marsh already stated that Ugbo chose to stay behind. Definitely think we haven’t seen the best of him yet with the NT. Corazon and Fresh Prince of MTL

cronaldo7
I bet missing out on Copa has lit a fire underneath him. As realistic or unrealistic as it seems to us that he's done with the CANMNT, I bet that he still strongly believes that he has more to give to the national team.
