Nick Sabetti
Id have to disagree on Gage. playing as a holding mid in a 4-2-3-1, where the wingers dont help, he covered lots of ground. he was always pressed by 2-3 players (especially cause Gage usually starts the attacks) and given that, hes gonna give a few balls away. but overall i thought his passing was good, and hes good at wriggling out of tough situations. and i thought he has an excellent passing range. again, its not easy to send a long ball when your pressed. guppy
Everybody seems to rate Gage highly this tournament. I don't get it. He was decent in parts vs Guadeloupe but doesn't exhibit any special characteristics. He's big, so he gets stuck in, but he still gives the ball away, his passing range isn't special and he doesn't seem to take his man on. I agree ... a number of times I've thought, what they see in that guy? ... He makes weak passes that get picked off.. The Mexican keeper should play as a forward in this game.. I hate this bunker down style, does it ever work.. painful to watch but I guess it keeps the score down.
Soccerpro
Hard to be a casual soccer fan watching this game. Only us dorks could stomach this.
Lord Bob
Oh, my, it was easier to score than miss for Mexico #9 there.
canucker
Thompson and Augustin are just not good enough for this level. I think Gage has been decent. Not our best player but not a huge problem either. He has no support in midfield and constantly has to go up against 3 opposition players.
TFCRegina
Well, it could be worse. We could be losing.
guppy
Right there Gage got muscled off and nearly a goal by Mexico..
JoshieScores
Gotta say though, MX's finishing is as bad as Canada's first touch on the ball... No juice or direction on the target. We have a chance!
Soccerpro
Thompson waves Teibert off the throw in, takes it, and chucks it almost directly to a Mexican. EH OH CANADA GO! It's ok, don't worry, Gazzola said Thompson was good in the selection camp.

Free kick
I dont get it. he has made some great stops and then he lets that in. I still think he has potential but sheezz.... I feel for the back four because they have played great
Guest Ed
A jolting reminder of Robinho vs Seaman (oops, meant the toothy Ronaldino).

Lord Bob
Not like Mexico doesn't deserve to be winning by more than that.
guppy
Honestly I'd rather they play normally and lose 6-0 than sit back and die slowly.. but I guess I'm being unrealistic.
Soccerpro
I can't wait for 8 years from now when the Whitecaps have had players in their academy for 8 years since the age of 12 and can play on this team.
Lord Bob
To be fair to JLL he was probably standing around thinking about how much he'd prefer the sweet, sweet embrace of death to this game.
Soccerpro
41 minutes in and Pegg has his name mentioned for the first time by the announcer. Moral victory.
guppy
Amazing thing tho, is it would scoreless except for that freaky goal.. meanwhile I don't think any of our players have entered the other box.. lol.. strange..
