Kickers Offenbach have fired Wolfgang Wolf.

I don't like this move. Wolf is a good coach and though they have been a bit off form recently they were still in the promotion playoff spot. Gerstner who is replacing Wolf is fairly inexperience, his only high level coaching experience being coach of Arminia Bielefeld last year for 27 games in the 2nd BL. Ironically he was fired in an almost identical situation to Wolf, Arminia started last season well under him and were challenging for the promotion spot. After a few poor games he was fired despite them still being in promotion contention. What Wolf's firing indicates to me is that Offenbach has poor impatient management that wants short term fast results. This almost always leads to bad things long term. Arminia for example is in last place in the 2nd BL this year and almost sure to relegate.

Important win for Augsburg as they make their case as a contender for promotion to the Bundesliga. On one hand it would be fantastic for Marcel de Jong to showcase his skills against the top teams in Germany but as a former Ostdeutscher Wismut Aue could be a nice addition to the otherwise west german dominated Bundesliga.

Missed this yesterday but Energie Cottbus lost to hosts MSV Duisburg yesterday 2-1, knocking them out of the last 4 in the DFB Pokal. Adam Straith not with the 18 man squad.

Today, Julien Latendresse-Levesque in net for Energie Cottbus amateurs as they lose 2-0 in the Regional League North.

Yesterday, Massih Wassey with 90 minutes in midfield as Fortuna Duesseldorf amateurs manage a point in a 2-2 draw yesterday in the Regional League West, lifting them closer to safety.
