(Rasputin tune) Rah Rah Radz-in-ski, Canada's greatest goal machine! There was a cat who really could score! (I can't remember there ever being a second verse to this one, so I'll give it a shot.)

Rah Rah Radz-in-ski, Canada's greatest goal machine! Despite popular belief he could hit a barn door!

A popular British chant great to sing after big goals

We shall not, we shall not be moved

We shall not, we shall not be moved

Just like the teams thats gonna make the World Cup (again!)

We shall not be moved

"The Massive" and "Come on you reds".

Yes they're associated w/ TFC but they work and pretty much everyone knows them.

The massive should be greatly helped out by the Montrealers. Hee hee :)

And Come on you reds is more of a rally cry.

Could also do "Oh when the reds go marching in".

(No we don't need to do Dichio 23:13) LOL

Any chance of a capo, to have us all on the same page?

Last thing we need is a "lets go Canada, lets go" . LOL

Yea the North American sporting audience is pretty limited to "Go Team Go", a generic "make noise" or other limited chants. The soccer fans at TFC have done a great job of introducing one of the coolest parts of soccer to North America, REAL SONGS!! You know the things with verses and refrains?

Actually a simple chant that has been suggested on the TFC boards is instead of chanting out "Ole, Ole Ole Ole!" same melody but chanting out "Allez..."

Easy simple and everyone can pretty much catch on.

We do need some practise though lol, although us TFC guys could start it and hope everyone catches on...

Capo gets my vote. Megaphone anyone?

I've always been a fan of singing the national anthem.

As have I, but will we sing it in French or English? lol

None of this half stuff. lol . Seriously though it confuses people.

If we only had scarves...

Uhm, I know this thread looks like it is new but Voyageurs have been singing that particular song since at least the qualifying round for the 2002 World Cup and probably longer. The age explains the need to change some lyrics as you will see.

From an old Fort Victoria Voyageurs Songsheet compiled by myself and MadCapMac c. 2000 :

Allez les Rouges (For National Team. Tune of Ole, Ole Ole...)

Allez, allez allez, allez, les Rouges, les Rouges.

(repeat)

Blame Canada (For National Team. From South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut)

Blame Canada! Blame Canada!

When you think your gonna score and Holger's Hero's shut the door.

Blame Canada! Blame Canada!

When your face down on the grass and a canoehead stomps yer ass.

Come On, You Reds (Tune: Auld Lang Syne)

Come on you Reds, come on you Reds, come on you Reds, come on. (2 or 4 times)

5.9 From the Russian Judge (Tune: Go West) For those shameless dives by cowardly opponents.

Five-nine, from the Russian judge. (4 or 8 times)

Holger's Voyaguers (Tune: Barret's Privateers)

God Damn them all, I was told

We'd take the field for a World Cup Gold

We'd hire no bums, take no slurs,

Now I 'm a broken man wrapped up in furs,

The last of Holger's Voyaguers.

Stand Up, For the Lads in Red (Tune: Go West)

Stand up, for the lads in red. (4 times) - obviously, stand up while singing.

or

(One-nil), to the lads in red. (4 times) - or whatever the score happens to be.

We're Going to Win the [Game/League/Cup] (Tune: For he's a jolly good fellow)

We're going to win the game! We're going to win the game!

And you're not going to stop us, you're not going to stop us,

You're not going to stop us - we're going to win the game!

Any video's of the chants?

Kind of hard to imagine chants otherwise...

But this is good, we need to get some ideas going!

For the divers, I'm looking into getting a giant score card done. LOL

The songs should all be available online somehwere (search titles provided) but no, I have no video. Too busy singing and beating a drum to take a video. :D

A classic. Looks even better if you have three guys in a row all hold them up at the same time. :)

To the tune of?

How the hell is the Massive going to work though? We're all in the same section...

No real tune, it's a chant. It's easy to figure out once you hear it.

As for the "massive", it works with a capo/megaphone. Still, you guys sing it with the wrong emphasis in Toronto - it doesn't sound French. I'll try to dig up a video of the Lens (I think) supporters doing it.

I hear ya about it not sounding French. Robert must laugh at it. ;)

Hearing people speak it out is a bit funny though. Myself included, my pronounciation is off most likely!

I kind of liked the "dig a hole and bury him" chant from the Costa Rica friendly. Maybe we can alternate between the two.:D

I remember that one...

I also remember the "Costa Rican today, Canadian tomorrow", but that will lead us to another topic...

The Massive

And the OG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeY575iliJw&feature=related (think it's from Bordeaux?)

I thought I recognized that melody. It took me a couple of hours to remember from where though.

That song was a huge hit in Italy and all over Europe. My mom used to play it all the time when I was growing up.
